Need someone to point in the right direction.
Looking for a pay catfish pond within an hour of BR.
Wanting to take my son fishing (catching) during Thanksgiving break.
Thanks for your help and have a Great Thanksgiving!

I think it closed a long time ago, but growing up we went to Ye Olde Catfish hole in Slidell a bunch.
Great time and memories.

Have a 4 1/2 year old and was trying to do the same thing around Houston. Most of them have closed or converted to a catfish farm.

You could probably snag some bream and sac-a-lait just bank fishing around Ramah right now. Interstate to Ramah exit, then south along the levee 10+ miles. Pat's Bay hits the levee around there.
If you're willing to drive a little more than 2 hours, just fish the banks off LA 1 near Grand Isle.

Also, Waddill Wildlife Refuge on Flannery Road has two ponds stocked with bream and catfish. There are piers around those ponds, so it's safe for little ones. The fish aren't huge, but my kids tore them up on crickets over there. You can get crickets from Jones Creek Hardware. At Waddill, there are also a few hiking trails that lead to the Comite River, and an archery range. It's really a nice place right in the middle of Baton Rouge.
FYI, rarely this crowded. Those are photos from a tournament they have each year. We usually see less that 10 people fishing any time we've gone.

This is where my kids learned to fish. Catfish pond was great before the flood. We'd always leave some decent sized ones even when they weren't biting that great.
I think Holden catfish farm is still open. I haven't been by there in 20 years but it shows up on google maps.

Catfish Heaven south of Breaux Bridge isn't bad. Usually pretty clean and well kept.
I haven't been to the Holden place in several years. Last time I went it was pretty rough. Very overgrown banks so access to the water was difficult, especially if you have a youngster.

I remember going to the Ozone Catfish Farm just east of Hammond (not far from the Lorraine Fire Tower) when I was little. Then there were the Holden Catfishing Lakes, but they're no more, either.

Are you sure? Everything I see online says that they stocked the trout in January last year.
