We never have problems with our pipe drops and outlaws. Once you get a good flood that suction sometimes takes 2 vise grips to get off your riser. The few we have that have board slides are much easier to screw with.

Call welsh irrigation and talk with them, they deal with type of stuff for rice fields,they are in welsh Louisiana.

Just installed ours from Osceola, they are the best I've ever dealt with. They have a gate at the bottom that meakes them so easy to deal with. They make a hell of a pit blind too

12" pipe will drain a very large area. I installed a 24" pipe on a 15 acre pond that kept it in check. The one thing you need to be aware of is the relation of the elevation of the bottom of the pipe to the top of the box. You will only be able to manipulate the water within that range, so make sure you set it where your boards can control the water in whatever range you are looking for. If you set it too high you'll be SOL for any water below the bottom of the box.

Meaning the bottom of the box should be the lowest point in the whole pond?
I assumed we would dig it out about a foot below the pond floor before setting the box. That's why I went 36 inches tall. I was thinking only the top 24 inches would be above pond floor height.
Basically, the top of the pipe would be level with the pond floor...

Yeah, that's the only way you'll be able to drain the whole thing, assuming the area where you put the pipe is not the high end of the pond. If that is the case you might have to dig a ditch to get the water to your pipe.

I know how and where it naturally drains. That's where the levee and control structure will be going. In the past we tried to shovel a little bit of a levee, but a good rain erodes it. I've decided to do it right.

Mine were 24" A2000 PVC, corrugated on the outside and smooth on the inside. I had a flap gate on the outfall and a big arse box, 48" box I think. I had to get all PVC so nobody would steal it (like an aluminum one) and it wouldn't corrode in saltwater (like galvanized stuff). I don't remember what they cost, but if you are getting an honest quote from someone I think $296 is a steal for what you are needing.

This is without the drain pipe and without shipping since it's coming from damn near Jonesboro, AR. I'm thinking the price would be close to double.
