Spot lock trolling motor for me but I am fishing in 10 to 60' of water

Ive only had power pole which have been great. If the Raptor could be deployed from the Minn Kota trolling motor remote that’d be a major plus. I dont like keeping up with and/or wearing two remotes.

I’ve had 2 power poles since 2016. I fish mainly marsh and less than 6’ of water. Love them. I actually called them last month about a crack in the anchor part of one of them. Sent me a brand new replacement free with 2 day shipping.

I really don't think there is a clear winner. Here are posts from guys who sell both:

a RAPTOR is not a BLADE.. Comparable to a PRO2 Series.
Power Pole benefits
Includes (2) remotes, This is something that can be taken into consideration for price point. RAPTOR includes (1) remote.
Functionally of the remote itself. I personally like the way the PP remotes function vs the RAPTOR. Again, JMO. The RAPTOR remotes just seems bass ackwards to me.
Power Pole brackets fit a vast majority of all applications better. The PP braced side mount brackets cost less, are lighter.
Power Pole can be serviced by end user.
Power Pole best in the business warranty support.
Power Pole pump has a built in relief valve providing drive off protection. - To release pressures on RAPTOR pump/hoses the user must have access to the relief valves and use a tool to turn valves. Keep this in mind when locating and installing the pumps.
I do NOT like the pump/remote programming features of RAPTORS. PITA
RAPTOR hardware design has seemed to hold up. Can't say I have much negative feedback.
Active Anchoring I am personally not sold on. If your fishing soft bottom bodies of water you may want to your money. From what feedback I have received... While fishing soft bottom areas, the AA feature will continue to drive the spike down causing them to get stuck in the soft bottom. You can turn off the AA feature but then why pay for it only to disengage it?
Current Price point is definitely something to consider for some boat owners
Total weight of either brand is specific to application so for me that is a wash.
Looks are personal preference. I personally like the way a Power Pole looks over a RAPTOR. To me the RAPTOR has looked dated since birth. The BLADE is the runway model

As stated above you have to understand Power Pole has 3 models at various price points. The Raptor is comprable to the mid level anchor from Power Pole the pro II with that in mind price point is relativly the same. A raptor does not compare to a blade by any means. Like Rich stated above im not really sold on active anchoring . IMO I believe it is just more amp draw on the battery, more pump wear through the day and frankly more noise all for unnecessary feature. Customers of mine who had raptors and now went back to poles the major complaint was the same as above in soft bottom it drives the spike deeper into the mud to the point it gets stuck. Also the raptors foot switches and remotes constantly have to be paired and re paired as they use bluetooth for connectivity. The plus is the brackets are more rigid they also are more expensive. The rigidity of the bracket coupled with no pressure relief valve built into the pump however can lead to big problems if you forget one or both are down and go to get on plane. Another major drawback is the having to go to a ASC certified warranty center for any little issue. I unlike Rich think the Raptor has a little more of a updated cool look to them, however knowing and using both products I will continue to have Power Poles on the back of my personal Rig. And yes I now sell Raptors not only Power Pole. However 95 percent of my customers demand Power Pole. 2023 will be Piwer Poles 25 year anniversary of building IMO the best hydraulic shallow water anchor.

I have Raptors. They have been flawless for a year and a half and get used a lot. I’ve had them torqued over pretty bad and knew shite was gonna break but they held it
Never had Power Poles but know people who do and they like them and say customer service is top shelf

I have PPs and love them.

Ive had PP’s on two different boats and would buy them again in a minute. They take a beating as they get jammed in the ground and twisted all to hell as the boat gets blown In different directions. Things will break on it, and PP has always replaced parts for free, including shipping. Relatively easy to repair yourself.
Ive never been on a boat with the other, so I can’t compare.

Rooster, what size and weight boat are you using with them

I have a 10’ Blade PP for about 7 yrs warranty and customer service are top notch. I’ve replaced 2 spikes (free and simple) and recently a new circuit board ($250 and simple). Holds in about 8’ of water otherwise need a spot lock. I think the TM is more important than a PP.
Don’t know much about Raptor, I do have to lower the PP to get under carport so this could be an issue with Raptor as it looks fixed.

18’ 6” glass bass boat. The Raptors are like the Lithiums I went with, ask me again in about 5 years but so far no regrets.

I have had both the raptors and PP2 and they work the same. Get what you like. It was nice deploying the raptors from the ipilot remote or head unit.

We live on a lake and it is too deep, except for spot lock on a trolling motor. I'm going to buy an inexpensive Minnkota Endura trolling motor and an Autoboat GPS system for my 14' Aluminum Jon Boat for about $900 total including the trolling motor. The Autoboat system is similar to the more capable and much more expensive and heavier GPS auto pilot/spot lock trolling motors but for a lot less. I wanted something really lightweight and with autopilot navigation, spot lock capabilities and fishing route mapping. $650 for Autoboat is a deal for those who can use basic 30lb to 55llb transom mount trolling motors and don't want a heavier, larger more expensive solution. Im adding an inexpensive transom mount bracket to the bow of my boat to make Autoboat work from the bow end of my boat.

Talons; I had PP but hydraulic leaks in the pump soured me on them. I've had Talons now on 2 boats and love them.
Also add Spot Lock and you're covered in any body of water.

I ordered a raptor when I built my boat but there was a delay on them during Covid. Went with the Power Pole as to not delay delivery.
Raptor will auto adjust which was appealing to me when I’m in Florida spiked down in the bay not tied to a dock for long periods of time.
PP has been great - control board went out in year 2 and they overnighted one no questions asked. Their support is first rate.
IMO, can’t go wrong with either.

I have a power pole micro on a kayak as well as a 24v electric motor. When I was wiring it up I accidentally wired the pp plug to 24v and it let the smoke out when I plugged it into the unit. I called pp and they told me to send it in and they would take a look at it. I got a notification from ups that it had delivered and within hours, I had another one that said I had a package on the way. They gave me a new unit to replace the fired one knowing full well that I had hooked it to 24v. They have earned my business for a long time.

I’ve owned power poles on multiple different boats for the past 10 years. I have zero complaints. I always go 10 foot due to muddy bottom in marsh. Work great. The customer service is UNRIVALED. I’ve had hydraulic lines blow which were easily repaired with free overnight parts. They also sent me a new motor for free to replace a 10 year old one. They respond damn near instantly any time any day of the week and are always willing to help. It’s hard to find a company like that these days

I’ve got a 10’ Raptor. Definitely came with two remotes.
I’ve had no issues with it. It will get stuck on occasion if I auto-down in soft mud, so I don’t use auto-down a lot.
It has actually made me lazier when it comes to dropping my trolling motor and trolling or using spot lock.

My raptors also came with two remotes (but it's a pair so maybe that's why?). Like them a lot so far.
Had power poles in both single and double configurations in the past and largely had good luck with the Blades. Customer service was great when I needed a new motherboard.
Probably can't go wrong with either right now.
