i mean yeah, there's no issue if you get a Proceed. the issue arises if you get a Delay, which has been happening far more lately

What exactly are we risking if it's a better deal?

never getting the gun

if you get a delay, Academy REQUIRES NICS to follow up with a proceed within 30 days. everybody else will give it to you after 3 days, even if they never hear from the NICS

if Academy doesn't hear back in 30 days, you have to do another form. you will probably get delayed again. rinse and repeat

usually, people that get Proceeds always get Proceeds. Same for Delays. But lately, people that have always been Proceeds are reporting delays, likely due to current conditions. so im just saying, you're probably better off shopping elsewhere

I'm still not risking anything. It's not like I have to pay before hand, take a chance of losing my money, and can't ever buy from someone else after.

Exactly. Since there is an academy minutes away from me and all independent shops around are charging $500 for a $200 firearm right now, there is no risk for me going to Academy. It's a no brainer.

Whenever I purchased a gun after my first address change I just showed the retailer my confirmation email from LSP showing the change. I never had anyone need to call to confirm.

Fun fact.... dealers are supposed to validate your chp through LSP. I’d be curious if anyone actually does.

But can't you put like 3 or 5 on a form? Been a while since I filled one out, but I remember there being more than one line.

yes, the FFL just has to submit a Multiple Handgun Form if someone tries to buy multiple handguns in a single transaction from a dealer.

you can hop around town all day buying a handgun at each store if you want. it's only if you buy 2 or more at a single place

That's what I thought. The last time I bought one, I did a little trading. Got rid of my LCP and an old .22 and bought my XDs and an old revolver. I only remembered filling out one form.

I do know that LSP has a web page where FFL's are supposed to verify permits but I've never seen anyone verify mine at the point of transfer. Maybe they do it later? Or maybe don't at all.

Not my concern though!

I’m not sure where you are located, but I saw on FB that Sports Center in Natchez has them for $529.

Mine does. I've transferred four firearms this year with them. They've transferred every gun I own except one to me. I'm there at least once a week. I know the people that work there on a first name basis. They teach the courses I take. In short, they know who I am.

Every time, they validate my CHP. They're not going to risk getting into hot water no matter how well they know me. It literally takes ten seconds. They run it while I'm filling out the 4473.

Explain to me why I would be risking anything if I stopped at an Academy close to me, saw a great deal on a gun and proceeded to purchase it. So I got delayed? I could easily go to another shop and pay extra $$$ at that point, or I can wait to see if I get a proceed from Academy. So, by keeping my options open, I am lessening the risk of overpaying for a firearm. It seems that some on here are not capable of comprehending risk assessment.

Lol. I was searching on getting delayed at Academy and this was the top Google search result. The gun was like the same price at a local shop. Because I had a $100 gift card, I went to academy. Never had an issue before. Usually it's a few minutes. This time it was delayed.
I only bought from them because I had the gift card. Also they had one of what I wanted in stock in all the local academies so I bought it online and used a gift card for partial payment.

I guess I'll wait til next Wednesday if it's still pending. I'll get a refund. (Never took ownership) and go to Gun outlet or shooters club.

Two guys in front of me both got shotguns and they went quick.
