Morning, looking to wet a hook this morning before the rain.

Where can I go in Lake Charles and bank fish?

Ive gone downtown by the civic center and I've fished at the boat ramp south of town by the locks.

Any recs would be appreciated

Also any ideas on the best place for bait?

There might be fish along the banks of Contraband coming into Prien Lake.

Not sure how the water is but if still salty you might find some reds on that edge.

Appreciate it. Are there charts or websites that show the salt line?

Calcasieu point or the ramp by ellenders bridge. Sling a dead shrimp as far as you can on the bottom

That I don’t know about. I do have a buddy that lives north on the West Fork of the Calcasieu and he was showing pictures of redfish congregated in the river by one of the old cuts coming out of the burns.

Good luck

Wet is all you will get, is real Lafleur under 210 is best bet or prien lake park. Zero fishing spots on contraband for bank.
West lake has a dock on the river

Thanks. It's rare I get to go and don't have my kayaks ready to go yet. I'm gonna check out Prien Lake. You talking about under the bridge by the kayak launch?

I have not been down since New Years. So not sure how salty north end is. You can fish by Salt Barrier, Road side near old icehouse, Civic Center, Calcasieu Point, Ellender Bridge Park, Old Ferry Landing, and several spots in Cameron, Hackberry, Holly Beach.

Buy some shrimp, throw it out there, you will find something.

Went over to Calcasieu Point. Had a few bites but the wind and mosquitos drove me off. I appreciate the tips. I'll start checking the other locations out.
