Any reasonable Axis Hunts in Texas that you may have hunted? Looking for meat no trophy.

Can you define what reasonable means to you and how far you're willing to travel?
And free range or high fence?

Can you define reasonable? If you are looking for a meat hunt and to shoot Axis does then on the very cheap end you will be paying 400 a piece, but more than likely over 500 a piece. If you are looking for a decent buck then on the very cheap end you will be paying 2500 dollars, but more than likely over 3000 dollars.
The freeze of 2021 completely decimated some Axis and black buck herds so the supply and demand is lower on the supply side.
If your heart isn't set on an Axis and its the meat you are more interested in then I would recommend searching for a broken horn Scimitar Oryx hunt. Once their horns are broken they are sold at a discount and to me their meat is better than Axis. You can get a broken horned Scimitar Oryx hunt for 900-1200 dollars and they are a good bit bigger than an Axis.

100% spot on. Prior to the 2021 freeze, you could find axis doe hunts in the $350 price range. Now you're gonna spend $500 ~ $750 if you can find a reputable hunt. Additionally, the outfitter or "Hunting Ranch" may require you to book a 2-day min. hunt with lodging and a guide fee. Currently land/ranch owners are trying to build up their herds. IMO, the best eating animal is a red deer hind (doe) which can weigh up to 300 lbs. Unfortunately, those are 2x's the price of an axis doe.

I shot one in early November, the ranch I was hunting had one left in a certain area and they wanted to get rid of her genetics so I got it for 750 dollars. Honestly, it's good but it doesn't come close to how good a Scimitar horned Oryx is.

Having had Oryx and Axis, can confirm everything you said, including the Axis being hit so hard. My buddy did the broken horn hunt a few weeks ago South of San Antonio and was shocked at how much meat he ended up with.

Yes sir, Me, my brother-in-law, and dad hunted in Mountain Home Texas this year and I ended up taking a Red Deer Hind, my BIL shot a broken horned Oryx, and my dad shot an Axis doe. All fantastic, but that Oryx was leaps and bounds better. I hope to go back again next year and have already called dibs on any broken horned Oryx.

Shot one in Texas this year. It was included with my whitetail hunt. Can confirm the meat is delicious. Coolest part was we hunted them at night with thermals bc according to the ranch owner they are ghosts during the day.
This past weekend I marinated the backstrap in Italian dressing and soy sauce for 48hrs, seasoned it, stuffed it with best stop smoked boudin, wrapped with bacon and smoked it at 225 for a few hrs. Maybe one of the best things I’ve ever made.

I shot an Oryx in 2012. I was not super impressed with it but I caveat that by saying the one I shot was older than Moses. I mean it was good but imo I think Axis is better. Axis meat is my #2 favorite meat behind Kudu. That meat is literally on my Mt. Everest of favorite things to eat and bonus is they are fricking gigantors.

Best meat I've had from an animal I've killed has been Scimitar oryx or pronghorn. Nilgai is good too but didn't kill one. Broke horn oryx is the best deal in Texas. They are extinct in Africa. I had some kudu biltong from South Africa couple years ago. Damn it was hard to eat.

I hunted ducks with a young man who guided oryx trips in New Mexico and while I never ate any oryx that had both horns the broken horned ones were delicious...he swore you could barely taste the difference and that the horns weren't good eating anyhow....
