Recommendations for a good cast net

I am looking to buy a quality 6’ or 8’ casting net and I am wondering if anyone has knows what direction to point me in. I have seen others using what looks like heavier duty casting nets on the piers compared to the cheaper one at academy. I would like to have one that will last me a few years if possible with the proper care.

You need to go to a netting company.
Memphis Net and Twine (Memphis, TN)
Champlin Net (Jonesville, LA)
Nets and More (Jonesville, LA)

I have a an 8 foot 6 panel Lee Fisher Bait Buster with heavy weight which I use in deeper water or strong currents. It’s a great mid tier net. But frankly, I prefer to throw my cheap Betts Old Salt net from Academy. Guy I fish with has a Black Pearl net, and it’s the best of the bunch.

T Boy has some good advice. Here is an article related to selecting as cast net. The author seems to like the Old Salt nets as best bang for the buck. Black Pearl is a fine net, as I understand it, but expensive. Bait Buster makes a net a lot of folks like as well.

Make sure you are asking for the right thing. A 6-8 foot cast net is 6-8 foot radius. I only mention this because a lot of folks get this confused. people looking for an 8 foot diameter net really want a 4 foot net.
As a side note, most folks will discourage you from using any "gimmicks" to help you throw the net and have it spread out correctly. If you can adequately throw a cast net, that is great advice. I suck at doing that and bought a device called ProKast Perfect Circle Net Thrower from Basspro and it works well for me.
Good luck

After doing some research this afternoon at work, I am now thinking of getting a barracuda net due to their awesome warranty. If you damage the net they will replace it up to 3 times and you only pay half the price.
Thanks for the recommendations
