What’s the process of registering a boat, motor, and trailer from Texas to Louisiana?

notarized bill of sale and trailer title, notarized signed titles of boat and motor if it has any

just routine thing as long as everything was currently registered in the state you bought it, if not, there could be some hassles

then of course you will have to pay the sales taxes from any state to state transfer on top of licensing and registration fees

In addition to the above, they wanted my seller's driver's license for some reason.

If La is like Arkansas then the boat coming from Texas will have all the paperwork you need and then some. Texas requires some really crazy documents for boat registration.

I’m confused about the rules of registering a boat

I have boats on Mississippi, Louisiana and one in Florida
I trail them around from time to time

I have houses in Louisiana, Mississippi and Florida

Where am I suppose to register these boats?

you register it in the state it spends most of its time in

when in another state you have a grace period (60 days i believe it is), to get it registered in that state same as your car license plate and drivers license

I had a john boat and trailer in tensas at a camp with nothing registered. We drove it on real roads once or twice a year. Got pulled over by state trooper because of no tags, told him he could write me up but never buying tags because of how it was used and he let me go without a ticket. Glad he was a sensible guy.

Just recently did this from Texas. Notarized bill of sale for trailer, motor and boat. I would try to do it from an individual if possible. Make the trailer as cheap as possible for tax purposes. Then take it to your local tax assessor to get signed off on not having to pay taxes since it was an individual sale, then goto baton rouge to get it registered. Would do it in person due to being way behind on mail/fax registrations
