The Lodge at Tee Mamou

We there this past weekend with the girlfriend's family. I had an absolute great time. I've never done anything like this before. Yes, its a high fence place and completely different from other hunting I've done but I throughly enjoyed it.

We got there Friday night and they had a chicken and sausage gumbo cooked. The lodge itself it huge and beautiful.

They use the money they make for these hunts to do hunts for Make a Wish Foundation and Wounded Warriors. Its really top notch.

As for the hunting. We went duck hunting Saturday morning and did ok, lots of woodducks and teal buzzing by quickly.

We went on the stands mid morning and hunted a while before lunch. Saw some good animals but nothing we wanted to take.

After lunch, and a nap of course, we went back on the stands. My girlfriend wanted a nice Red Stagg Bull and we were lucky enough for her to get that opportunity. I gave her my 30-06 and she put the smack down on that bull! I was extremely excited and impressed with her!
Here is a video of the shot

Her step-mother was also able to harvest a nice Axis doe that afternoon.

Not in our group, but these whitetail were taken Saturday also:

The guys had their hands busy cleaning that afternoon. (That was one of the weirdest parts to me. I've never had someone completely clean an animal that I've killed)

Sunday morning, we were on a mission to try to find a bull elk. Unfortunately we were not able to but we did get to take two nice Fallow Bucks. I shot mine around 7:00am and the other was taken around 9:00.

I took a 150-180 yard shot and dropped him in his tracks. Had to take a neck shot (first time ever) because he was facing us and looking ready to scoot into the woods. We did a rough score of this one and he measured to be 215-2/8 inches.

I forgot my camo lsu hat in the lodge

I still like my free range hunting. This was a blast but take a lot of the challenge out of it.

But that fallow and stagg will be beautiful on the wall!

I know, it was mainly in jest. High fences get a lotta hate around here but like you said...yall were after a bull elk and never saw them. Its still hunting. I went to the YO Ranch last year on a exotic hunting trip (paid for by the company) and got to take an awesome red stag, my mount should be ready next month

Please find your hat!!

Nice pics. The world is easier to walk through when your bitch is cool enough to shoot a 30/06 at a red stag
