Did some research and think I am settling on the RIX Leap 3 thermal. Anyone have experience with this scope?

I’ve never looked through one but people seem to be liking those scopes for the price point

The videos I have seen don't look very impressive. Haven't seen one in person though. For the same price point I would go AGM or Bering Optics, or spend a little more and get a Pulsar.

Cheap thermals are cheap for a reason. Most are the same Chinese junk in a different housing. A new brand comes out and markets them with imagery from the best thermal conditions. Almost any scope will look "good" in a store or a pig at 50 yds.

Take time and learn about sensor resolution vs base mag, micron pitch, sensor millikelvin ratings, lense ratio. Compare those specs and how humidity and environmental factors affect the image. Don't buy a acope based off of Facebook videos

I thermal hunt 1-2 times a week year round. We have tried many scopes over the years. Most seem popular only because of the price.

I'm not saying a $10k thermal is the only one worth a shite but cheap and thermal don't mesh.

A pulsar thermion 2 XQ50 pro is a damn good scope for a user who will hunt a few times a year, pop a few feeder pigs, or someone getting into the thermal world. Get that over agm, iray, leap or any others

I recommend a 640 unit over a 384 resolution scope.

Thanks for the information and feed back. I don’t doubt the Pulsar is a better scope but I can’t spend that kind of coin.

I will not be shooting over 200 yds. Likely rarely over 150 yds. I think a 384 resolution would be adequate.

Look into the talion XQ35 pro. It has a much more sensitive thermal sensor than any 384 scope on the market.

Dude a 384 resolution is plenty for pigs. 640 is nice but geez I’ve hunted multiple 384 thermals for years and I’m always amazed how well the resolution is out to at least 150 yards.

How does the XQ35 compare to the XQ50?

The XQ35 is in the Talion and the XQ50 is in the Thermion. The Thermion will have a little bit better image and the Thermion has the ability to get it with the LRF model. That being said, the XQ35 for $2500 is damn hard to beat.
