Does anyone know someone who does it? Also, what does it typically cost?
I've been saying for years I was going to get my gun fitted and never end up doing it. I'm going to try to get it done early-ish this year.
Also, for those of you that have done it, did it make a big difference?

You talking about adjusting cast and drop?
Your shotgun should have came with shite to do that yourself.

Trimming up/down stock and checking for pitch and stuff.

I would start with the gunsmith at hunters run in port Allen

Shotguns are not made to be aimed, they are supposed to shoot where you look. This really doesn't happen on most guns without adjustments. A fitting will give you the measurements you need for guns to fit your body.

This. If it is the same guy there, he adjusted two long guns for my daughter for trap and skeet. Improved her shooting a lot. Shoots 10x better then me and her hubby.

The shotguns that can be purchased off the rack at a gun shop are designed for “Joe Average”—a man who is between 5’8” and 5’10” and wears about a 33” dress shirt sleeve. However, if you sit in an airport and watch all the people come and go, how many people are men between 5’8” and 5’10”? Ten percent? Twenty percent? Personal gun measurements are very important, because we’re all built differently. The goal is ultimately to hit more targets. To accomplish this goal, it’s important to first accomplish a nice fluid gun mount. After a consistent gun mount has been accomplished (and that’s an entirely different discourse), the gun, when mounted, should easily come to the same place every time on the shooter’s shoulder and face, where the shotgun barrels are lined up right under the shooter’s dominant eye. Shotgun stocks are measured in several different ways:
Length of pull: this is the distance between the trigger and the center of the gun butt. On a double gun, this distance is measured from the front trigger.
Pitch: the angle of the butt in relation to the top of the barrel.
Cast: the distance the centerline of the stock is offset to one side or another of the centerline of the barrel.
Drop: the distance from the top of the barrel or rib to the top edge of the stock at the comb and the heel.

never heard of having a shotgun fitted...I would guess it is more common in trap/skeet shooting circles than among hunters...

aight, just got my tape measure and measured from my heel to center of butt, I think I need an xxl tall shotgun.

I adjusted my gun with the shims that came with it until I felt more comfortable with picking up the bead more consistently when I shouldered it. I have a cheap gun though. If I were dropping close to 2k on a gun, I'd definitely have it fitted.

When you start ordering custom sxs and o/u they build to your measurements

The hardest thing to fix is drop. Stocks can be bent to change cast, they can be cut shorter or pads added for extra length. Drop is harder to fix...

I don't think many hunters bother other than some of the upland guys with expensive guns.
Most guys fit themselves to the gun. In other words, they just learn how to shoot the gun they have assuming it fits decent enough.

I don't duck hunt all that much, nor do I hunt quail or doves a lot. But I know they can "sneak up" on me, and I find that I sometimes have to shoulder the gun and fire more quickly than I'd like to. That (and shooting clays) is when gun fit is important (to me).

I'd like to know the answer to this as well. I want to buy my son's BPS, but it's too long for me.
