So, I found some droppings in my workshop and put out poison and a trap. Caught 1 in a trap and found one dying from the poison. But this big boy keeps evading me.

I'm not much of a rat expert, but do these nuts look normal, or is the poison doing something to him?

I'd have to send that one to the taxidermist. Put it on your desk and name him Deez

shite, I was hoping the poison was working. I know he's eating it, I may need something stronger if he doesn't set off the trap soon.

We had a male pet rat when I was a kid. They were gigantic, but that dude's are even bigger. So, that's probably not altogether unlikely.

That rat is not following what many do, but just as a suggestion your rat trap setting skills suck.

You want the trap perpindicular to the wall with the bait side against the wall. Generally, they run along things like walls with their whiskers touching the walls. But if you set it in that manner you are also less likely to get a false set from him coming in at an odd angle.

Yes. They have nuts as big as fox squirrels.

If he is taking the bait without springing the the trap take a hot glue gun and stick some sunflower seeds to the trigger. He will have to work harder to get the bait and will trip the trigger.
