What type of spider is this. Definitely the biggest I've ever seen around here. Probably 4 inches long and 3 inches wide (with legs of course)

What environment was it found?
I think it is a fishing spider but I am not 100% sure. We have several species.

The wife said it’s a house on fire spider. Cause she is burning this bitch down if she sees one in the house

They make noise when they climb up trees.
Has to hurt if they bite. Eff them.
If I see one at my camp they die if I am on a hammock.
Always near the water. Has to be a fishing variety.

They are always on the pilings right at water’s surface under the interstate at Ramah and Henderson

All of those kinda things are wolf spiders to me.

It appears to be a soon to be smashed fishing spider to me. Probably just finished consuming a 4 pound bass.

When a kid living in an old shotgun house in the Lower 9th Ward we would see about 10 of those HUGE arse spiders a year inside the house.
Sometimes they'd have their egg sacks attached to the bellies of the females that made them look even bigger.
I swear, some of those spiders were as big as a man's palm and would send chills down your spine when you saw them scoot across walls or ceilings.

Yeah, I don't like looking up seeing those big bastards. One falls in boat, I'm abandoning ship.

Saw one of these on the way to my bow stand last season. I've said it before, I don't like spiders at all. I was bitten by a black widow when I was about ten years old, a "friend" threw it on me while we were rummaging through an old shed in the woods.
Anyway, I thought about that critter the whole time I was in the stand. Got down early, gave that tree a wide berth when I passed it. Interestingly, it was nowhere near water.
Not the largest spider I have seen in the woods either. I saw a tarantula in Red Dirt north of Alexandria several years ago. It was as big as my hand, and I've got huge hands. That sucker crawled on my leg as I sat on the ground deer hunting. I overcame my fear and pushed it into my backpack and took it to the ranger station. The ranger said to me, "make sure that thing doesn't bite you!" I just couldn't light it up so I let it go right ouside the ranger station.
