Anyone have a recommendation on a stun gun that would actually fend off an attacker?

I'm not looking to spend a couple grand on an actual Taser, but makes no sense to spend $40 on something that just makes noise.

So, is there something out there for a few hundred that is a legitimate self-defense tool?

(She's not comfortable with a firearm. Yet.)

It's not a taser but a good pepper spray is another less than lethal option that works.

I got Fox Labs for my wife. I carry a can when I cant carry a firearm.

The 2 points of contact that complete the circuit through the human body is what makes a taser so effective. All the other shock type crap is exactly that. It will hurt to be touched by a cheap stun gun but it won’t stop an attack.

Get bear spray or pepper spray. Stun guns are pretty useless. Brass knuckles or a knife or basically anything else will be more effective.

the guys suggesting bear spray are exactly right. You can get small cans at REI cheaper than what’s sold as personal defense (“mace”). It will be a red can but who cares
