Swimming pool question

I'm looking to put in a pool this summer. I want a custom gunite pool, but I want to sub-contract it out myself.
I know people who can do the excavation, plumbing, electrical, etc. What I don't have is someone who can do the gunite.
Does anyone here know any pool sub-contractors? Has anyone here ever put in a pool like this before?
Thanks!

A good friend of mine installed a pool and another friend of ours who is very mechanically minded watched the process. He said that once the hole was dug, the rebar laid and the plumbing installed, then the concrete company sent out the guys that blew and finished the gunite. He said a square design would be a simple process after watching the construction.

Watched my parents get done. It's not extremely complicated, that's for sure. But at the same time, I would imagine you'd have to know a little about rebar as well as an understanding of the plumbing layout. I realize you are subbing out the plumbing, but you'd need to know how it would integrate into the design. As was said, a square would be easier.

One piece of advice I can give. Do your research on the pool guy. My grandparents got a guy from BR, was the owner of the business and everything checked out good. Come to find out he was an ex pro wrestler turned pool guy who was in trouble with the law. Dude jumped states halfway through the installation and left em high and dry. New company came in to finish and they had to tear out all kinda shite because ol boy obviously had no clue what he was doing. shite was a cluster and cost way more than it should have.

Don't know where you are, but this guy is in Hammond. Stays busy, but he may help you out.

I'm not going to tell you can or can't accomplish this job yourself. I will offer the contact of Noe Garcia dba N Y Garcia. He replaced the water line tile and replastered my 35 year old unite pool and did an excellent job. I think he will do just about anything you want involving a pool. 832 398-4601

Buddy of mine owns bay pool company in denham springs. He does fiberglass drop ins and gunite pools. They do great work. Check out the fb page

99% of pool guys just subcontract out all the work. Most do very little actual pool work past the design process. Do some extensive research and find out who the subs are in your area. Compensate them well and make it worth their time to spend time on you. Pool guys usually try to upcharge about 30% compared to what their true cost is.

A friend of mine bought a kit of some type. He dug the hole, did the plumbing, and installed the "frame," which was panels. Then he hired out the gunite portion. It's square, not fancy, but I think he ended up spending $5-7k or so total.

Sure it's not a vinyl liner?

Long pool thread
I gave some thought to installing one myself last year.
This thread gives good insight into what it takes.

So, why not fiberglass pools? Anybody?
