Looking for used bowrider probably in the 20 for range. What's the board's thoughts on tracker Tahoe... Maybe like the q5. I've researched forums but always like to check with this board. TIA

Bayliner was the cheapest and worst run about boats made... until bass pro's tahoe boats were launched. it's a cheap built boat. that said, if you can get it for real cheap and are not worried about keeping it forever.. it might work for you.

Lots of low hour Chaparrals, Four Winns, Regals, Cobalts, Sea Rays, Montereys etc. out there - I'd search for a quality used one.

This. Take the $$$ you would spend on a Tahoe, buy an equivalent priced used quality brand and you will come out ahead.

Agreed, Tahoes are junk! I knew a buddy that bought a brand new one and the fiberglass started cracking within a few months.

I've got a 2008 Q8 with a 350 magnum engine and its never had a thing wrong with it besides shite that's been my fault. It runs like an absolute champ.. If you keep up with them they are good boats, just like almost any boat.

The consensus is that they are shite. But the step up from that class of boat to something else is cost prohibitive to most folks. Old boy talking about the SAN probably dropped $120,000.

Base on a 23 is $100,000 and G25 is $140,000.

Doesn't include any extras. By the time you factor in speakers and everything else thats easily another 15k+. And he said he was going with the G25

Heard bad things about tahoes, we have a crownline that has been a solid boat. No clue what they go for though.

Damn...didn't realize the disdain for the Tahoe brand. Checked other boating forums and it seems like a mixed bag of responses. What's so bad about these boats? I realize that it is an entry level boat and not a Sea Ray but they look very similar as to layout, storage, engine etc.

Are we talking a Kia compared to a BMW or is it more likely a Kia to a Honda?

Thanks for the responses.

My parents have a Q5 and has been reliable for them for over 10 years. 4.3 mercruiser engine and only problem they have is the sensor for the gear oil going bad but that is being replaced. It is a pain to change the oil and fuel filter just because of the limited space but I have seen that on a lot of boats. It is not a chaparral or sea ray, but for the price they are descent.

Hard to compare them to cars because a chaparral and cobalt are two vastly different money classes.

Kia makes a very good car now.

They are poorly made, apparently. Sure they look similar to other boats when looking online. If you read the reviews you'll see that the fit and finish starts to fall apart and rattle in a hurry. And some transom and other hull issues that you typically won't get with a higher quality boat.

If you want something cheap to run around in for a couple of years I think you will be fine getting one.

Going back to your KIA comparison, you can buy a KIA that is a much nicer car than certain models of BMWs. Just like you can spend $140,000 on a BMW (or Super Air Nautique) that will blow any Kia off the road.
