I'm starting to research getting a boat (won't be purchasing for a year or two). Express seems to be a good value for the money, but I can't find too much info about them. I was thinking about the HD20 specifically...

Anyone care to share? Thanks.

I have an h51 it has been a great little boat in all types of water... If you are in the market for a good tin rig with performance qualities I think xpress is a rig to look at. I think most tin rig makers are finally catching up to what xpress has been doing for a quite a while.

I picked up an H51 last year and have thoroughly enjoyed it.

I looked at a few different aluminum boats, and became sold on Xpress after looking at their manufacturing process. It gets on plane quickly and rides very smoothly for an aluminum boat.

Since you plan on waiting, take the opportunity to test a few different makes. You may find you prefer another brand in your price range.

bought the hd20 2 years ago. no complaints yet, ride will never be like a fiberglass boat. fairly light boat, transferable life time warranty on hull.

Not sure how other boat dealers are. I bought a Xpress from Boats Unlimited in BR and I'm highly disappointed with their service. Love the boat, hate the dealer. In fact, everyone I know that has a Xpress loves it, but has something negative to say about the dealer.

I like a smooth ride too and thought my express was...til I rode/drove my dad's Ranger.

Holy shyt! Like riding a nice car on the highway. I still have my express though, and do like it a lot.

I don't want a stump to punch a hole in the bottom of my boat or rip the transom so I'll never have a fiberglass.

Love my 18ft Xpress with 90hp Yamaha! Got a great deal from Boats Unlimited but very disappointed in my latest transaction with them. Recently brought in for the mandatory 10-hour maintenance check and was told that I owed $175. I was shocked. No one had ever explained the process to me and I assumed it was part of the warranty on the motor, especially since I had the factory 2 year warranty and an additional 3 year warranty.
After a brief discussion with service manager the charge was decreased to $67.00.
I'm still unhappy about this. Was the maintenance check for the customer's benefit or for the motor manufacturer's? Due to the motor being completely warranted for 4 more years, shouldn't this check be covered by the warranty?
But the boat is excellent!

I've fished out of a few Xpress boats and they were all pretty nice. Both of the guys I know with them love them.

I'm gonna look hard at them for my next boat purchase. Which will be a long time away.

I have an Xpress X70 going on 7 years with it. I hunt and tournament fish out of mine and love it. As stated before, the ride is not fiberglass! However, where I take my boat to hunt and fish, the ride isn't critical, but the durability is!

I have a G3, so I just want to point out a negative about painted aluminum boats. It is not all that hard to scratch paint off. On a glass boat, a scratch reveals more white underneath or on a colored glass boat, you can fix the clear so it doesn't look bad. On a color painted aluminum boat, a scratch reveals silver metal. I have an '06, which I have tried very hard to keep from scratching, but it's inevitable and they do accumulate over time. 99% of my use is freshwater, so I would expect it to be an even greater concern in saltwater/marsh use (shells, tieing up to things, ice chests etc.

Just throwing it out there to consider.

had a smaller xpress that I used for freshwater fishing and marsh fishing and was pleased.

like other posters said, the service at Boats Unlimited sucks(where I got mine) and I heard the place in Crowley is worse.
