Termidor? Really as Good as Everyone Says?

For the first time this spring, I'm having a small ant problem in my guest bathroom. I dismissed it at first but apparently ignoring it can lead to worse. I put Terro ant baits in the bathroom and also went out and bought some Termidor on Wed. and sprayed the perimeter of the house. Went 1.5' up and 1.5' out. Also sprayed around windows, doorways, openings etc.
It's been 4 full days and I'm still seeing some ants in that bathroom. All I've heard is that Termidor is awesome and will solve my ant problem effectively.
How long should it take? Is there something else I should be using that is better?

I don't know much about Thermidor, but I spray talstar liquid around the per emitter and broadcast talstar granules in the yard , works like magic

We use termidor for termites. Suspend SC is what we would use for ants inside and Top Choice outside.

I was told today it does wonders for ants, was asking about termites.

Yes, imo.
For piss ants (this covers most all invading indoor ants)...
for outside...

After my building had termite issues, I got pretty knowledgable, in a layman's way.
Termidor is the real deal, IMO.

I know Termidor is originally for termites, but there are testimonials all over the web saying how awesome it works on ants as well, which makes sense b/c both form colonies.
I use Suspend inside for bugs every 3-4 months and it's great for almost all bugs that dont form colonies. It is killing the ants once they show up eventually, but more always come b/c Suspend isn't killing the colony. It doesn't work that way.
I hope the Termidor works. I guess I need to give it more time. The amount of ants has diminished and most of the ones I'm finding are dead but I want to see no ants, dead or otherwise.

Termidor works on the colonies according to the literature b/c the termite or ant, in this case, brings it back to the colony and feeds it to the other ants and queen, which should take care of all of them eventually. The ant will bring the poison to the mound or colony inside the wall, under the house etc. Places I can't realistically spray in. Therefore Termidore can get to the colony when I can't.
Suspend will work on the ant or bug crossing over the area that was sprayed but it won't kill the colony so more ants will always show up. That is why I decided on Termidor. I want to eradicate the whole problem. Was just wondering on how long it will take.

Termidor is pretty much the end all/be all right now.

Good to know. Any idea on how long it should take for ants?

Ants are social, so it should get shared around pretty quick.
I saw top choice (granule) mentioned earlier too. I know talstar gets thrown around a lot for yards but if you can swing it, top choice is awesome. It's basically a termidor (fipronil) granule. It's more expensive but you can get away with just one application per year, so it balances out.

Great thanks for the tip. I'll probably pick up some Top Choice. None of it's really that expensive when you realize it works awesome and you're not paying an exterminator $$$.

I'm an exterminator but I recommend DIY stuff all the time. I'm busy enough lol.

Just bought some generic Imidacloprid off Ebay for $25. Makes 50 gallons of mixture.
Had tubers around the base of my house and it scared the hell out of me, but didnt want to pay upwards of 1k for a treatment. Dead termites are weeping from the ground on a daily basis. I've heard that this chemical is highly systemic and will stay in the ground for nearly five years.

Can you buy termidor in BR?
Posted on 4/28/14 at 10:34 am to Boudreaux35
I buy everything through Oldham chemical in BR. They have it. Not sure what you'll pay for it there versus what I pay. It's expensive but it's worth every penny.

If you have a Univar down there, you may wanna check them out. Here, they're less expensive on most items.
