I have some money burning a hole in my wallet and I decided to spend it on a deer hunt to Texas. Anybody got any recommendations on where to go? Yes I know it is last minute but hopefully I can find something. Thanks in Advance.

what is your definition of "trophy" ... 140" , 160" , 180" + ?
you can easily spend $10,000 + on a 150" deer and be hunting in a 200 acre to 2,500 acre HF ranch. WT Trophy hunting in Texas has gone 100% commercial catering to doctors, lawyers, and business elite who DGAF spending money and buying hunts for their family or business friends.
Since rifle season opened 2 weeks ago, pretty sure the 2024-25 dates are already booked. You may get a last-minute cancellation if lucky. Also the later the season, the rut kicks in and deer tend to lose antlers from fighting.
Personally, if I had money to spend, I'd research and book a spring axis hunt and shoot 1 buck and 3-4 does for a meat hunt. Probably cost you < $4,000 (for 3-4 animals) and the meat is 10's better. Ask if the outfitter / ranch owner has any red deer hind available. 275~350 lb animal that is better table fare than axis and/or WT.

What makes a Texas deer attractive to you? Specifically, what makes paying someone to shoot a deer in a pen that you will then pay money to mount in your home attractive? You want folks to come over and ask about it so you can say "yep. Killed it in a fence. Paid $10k for him. Was tough when he came out running towards that feeder but luckily I was steady enough not to shoot any of the other 20 deer that were around him. Heck of a hunt with me and the guide sitting in the blind waiting for the one I paid for to come eat."

Not sure he's still outfitting but look up Lonnie Walker Outdoors on facebook. Central Texas area so not hunting giants but low fence and a 140ish deer is realistic. Great dude also.

You tell them how you killed it on public land after sitting for 12 straight days.
