Looks like Remington has decided to enter the polymer double stack field. Hopefully this gun won't be a colossal failure like their previous attempt at a new handgun with the R51. This one looks somewhat promising with some nice features and I'm a fan of the 18 round magazine. I'll hold ultimate judgment until it's officially on the market and been tested thoroughly by non-biased sources.

EDIT: I also find it interesting that they have the exact same weight and dimensions listed for the 45 version. Not that it's a huge deal but it shows they didn't take the time to see which one actually weighs more (hint, it would be the 9mm due to the thicker barrel if they used the same exact frame and slide).

I could see that since it looks so similar to the Walther PPQ and the PPQ is a direct competitor to the VP9. But this one has a 4.5" barrel (rather than 4") and an 18 round mag (rather than 15). So it seems to me like it would be the bigger brother of those.

I think that's the Navy model with the threaded barrel and extended baseplate. The standard mags are 15 round. But good input!

That's a good question. I would think since this is a brand new release that we'll know pretty soon. I imagine if they are made in the new factory they may have some better quality control. Fingers crossed on this one for an old American manufacturer, even though Freedom Group.

15+1 is pretty good for a 45

I agree. It's right up there with the highest capacity 45 handgun I know of, the FNP45/FNX45.
