Do you ever wish you would have added another foot for leg room? I’m about to build a blind for my kids to hunt with me in. I initially thought 4 would be fine but now 2nd guessing do to ease of 4x8 build a wasted material.

I have a few 4x6 blinds. It's fine with an 8 year old, but bigger is nice so they can lay around.

5x6 is the way to go, I’ve got 4x6 that I wish was a little wider and a 4x8 and it’s a little long.

If you are building it in place build it as big as you can.
If you have to haul it in the woods make sure the size is something you can handle getting it in and set up...

6X6 is the best your gonna build. 8 is too long and 4 is too narrow. We can put a cot on any side we want for the kids to catch a nap and we table up one corner about waste high and 18" out; to put snacks and gear on. Nails around the top to hang our gear bag. Best doe killer made is the ole 6X6 box stand.

I don't see how a 4x8 could ever be too small. Seems like a 6x6 would need a lot of extra cutting and scraps.

I built a 4x8 and raised my son in it. We have 2 office chairs and a fold up bag chair in the corner and he always had plenty of room to curl up on the floor and take a nap if needed.

I recommend making the inside 8' tall so you can put some shelves up high to keep everything off the floor. Also, you don't feel like you're cramped up in a little box and can stand up and stretch your arms and legs from time to time.

I’m really thinking bout going this way. Just seems more comfortable. I’ve hunted a primos double bull for a while which is 5x5. I think a 6x6 would be great.

Whatever size you make it, be sure you put carpet on the floor in sections so that you can change it out whenever it gets nasty.

I'm tempted to make one similar to this so I can shoot a bow from it. Just not sure I want to get that fancy

You dummy. You are supposed to use a crossbow if you hunt from a box stand. Everyone knows this.

I wouldn't. Way too complicated for no good reason.

I’m looking for info on it as well.
Any suggestions on the base? I can’t find the metal frame bases. Where have y’all found metal platforms? I don’t want to use wood for the base and ladder if I can prevent.

Cabelas has them. Lots of feed stores I’ve seen them out front.

Ours are 5x5, I can bring my 2 boys with me and there's plenty of room for both to lay down and nap when need be and they aren't in my way if I need to pull off a quick shot.
