Thoughts on Howa mini action rifles?

Available in 6.5 Grendel as well as other cartridges. Looks like it would be a pretty nice option for a lightweight deer gun or a nice gun for a kid to learn on.

I really like the idea of the Howa mini action.
The reviews I've read have been very favorable. I think the 6.5 Grendel would be a good youth/ladies deer gun. I wish it was available as an action only w/o barrel or stock. It'd make a perfect platform for building any of a number of short cartridges like the 221 Fireball, 17 Rem Fireball, 22 Hornet, etc.

I may be wrong but pretty certain that Howa makes the Weatherby Vanguard line of rifles.
I have a Vanguard in .257wby and it's a lazer beam.
They make a good rifle.
I will say that my 11yr old had no issues shooting my .308 (Ruger American Predator) or my 6.5 CM (AR-10 heavy gun).

It's a cool concept and they are relatively affordable (~$500).
Thinking about picking one up and trying it out next deer season.
They also came out with a chassis rifle for those looking for a damn accurate long range rifle.

They are good. If it were my money, I would go with a CZ 527 in 6.5 grendel. Hard to beat CZ.

I have a Grendel in an AR platform that I plan to hunt with next year. It’s a sweet little round and apparently does pretty good on deer

I used to have a .257. that thing was a laser.
I've still got about five boxes of ammo I'll make u a deal on.

I forgot to add that I used to have Howa bolt action in 30-06 back in the early 90's. It was a very accurate gun. The gun was labeled as a Smith&Wesson, but was made by Howa. In the same time period, Howa also made a bolt action rifle for Mossberg. And yes, Howa has also made bolt actions for Weatherby.
The Grendel should be a good deer gun, especially for a youth. I've killed close to 30
head of big game w/ a T/C Contender using a 14" barrel chambered in 6.5 JDJ. My favorite load for the gun used a 120 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip bullet at a muzzle velocity of approx 2450 fps; my most distant kill was 325 yards (although I hit a little back in the paunch and had to make a second shot at 175 yds). 6.5 mm bullets have a well deserved reputation as being very deadly on big game. It looks like ballistically similar loads are available for the 6.5 Grendel.
If you buy one, please give us a review!
