I’ll be taking the family to stay in a cabin for a long weekend this coming weekend. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I may be able to put myself and kids 6&5 on a few fish? No boat. Would be bank/wharf fishing.

Go down below the damn and fish the moving water. Fish some jerkbaits. Good luck

It sucks even if you have a boat right now. Good luck

Caught over 100 crappie from a pier one January day decades ago, just using jigs. Some of the most fun fishing I've ever had.

Keep hearing this over and over and feel like something’s got to give. The decline is not a secret, especially when everyone also fishes Rayburn. Least it’s still got ducks.

Definitely behind the dam. It’s pretty awesome scenery back there

If we knew what part of the lake it would help

There used to be a dude up north of Huxley Bay that rented John Boats with small outboards by the day "cheap"

The bream should be bedding now, if you could find them you could mop up.

I'm not familiar with that area but I bet if you could find a bridge or some rocks and get a box of worms/bream hooks/corks you could catch something.

Also go in the bait shops and ask where you can fish, marinas are always good but stay out of the big bass guys way, they own the lake

I grew up fishing TB but when we moved to NOLA I stopped going as often and then altogether. I’ve only been a handful of times in the last 20 years. I know the lake was so low for so long, is that the reason for the decline? Lake just hasn’t been able to hold and produce?

My son caught a 7lb 11oz pig last July from the bank w a deep diving crankbait.
It can happen.

Etoile Park

Go to the end of the road past the boat ramp.

Wade fish. Go out with a spoon. I used a Mr. Champ. Caught several bass there.

Go to Leesville and up to anacoco and head west

It’s a cool spot but the local folks trash it up There is the old Sabine River channel you will cross first As soon as you cross there is a road heading south take it. It’s a good swimming spot The next place is where they generate. It’s the better spot as far as scenery. Looks like arkansas back there Just check the Sabine River authority website and see if they are generating. If they arent Bring some masks and snorkels it’s really clear water.

OP you may also think about doing a guided crappie trip. Runs $5-600 and it’s pretty laid back fishing
