My brake lights work on my trailer. Running lights don’t. Hooked up to buddy’s truck, same thing. Complete new set of lights and wires. Any suggestions?? TIA

Probably a ground. Start at the plug with a simple voltage tester. Check each wire coming out the back of the plug if then I would check your ground.

Also check the voltage at each individual running light. If they are wired in series, if one goes out, they all go out. Check both the wires in the fixture and connect to the frame to see if your getting the proper voltage. To check to see if it is a loose ground at the light, use your meter to check continuity from the ground wire in the light fixture to the frame.
If they are LED lights make sure they aren't wired in reverse as polarity matters to LED's.

What kind of plug? 4 flat, 7 round? Is one of the prongs bent/broke in plug? Is the trailer properly grounded at the coupler? ring terminal, bolt, nut, washer etc. Are the new lights Led? what 2 trucks did you hook it up to test?

If the hitch and/or ball has a lot of corrosion, the ground circuit sometimes won’t conduct through that connection. I’ve had it happen several times over the years. You may want to make a few laps and turns in the truck with trailer if you don’t find a more straightforward resolution.

1157 bulbs? Perhaps running light filaments burned out on each side by coincidence
It’s happened to me before

1157 bulbs are sort of famous for that. It’s why I converted to LED
