***Updated 10/30*** How to catch/kill a mink

Just seen a mink run across my back yard to my coop, by the time I got there, he hauled arse. Killed 4 of my chickens last weekend. I sealed up the only spot where he could have went in. How can I catch/kill this little a-hole.
**Update**
Got another mink on the loose boys, he killed all 10 of my chickens Saturday night. I put a bass in the trap lastnight and that sneaky sumbitch got in there and snatched it too. Going to tie the next one to the back of the trap so he has to work for it.
The hunt continues….

A regular live trap should work. Put a spoon of tuna fish or some chicken livers or something in there.
Mink are some badasses. You aren't keeping one out of a chicken pen. I know of one ripping sheet metal off a walk in cooler trying to get at the deer meat.
Eta: do not attempt to remove live mink from trap!

When I trapped, I made my mink sets at the base of cypress trees in the v of the trunk base. Can of sardines set close in to the trunk with steel trap in front of sardine can.
Replicate with a board semi parallell along side of coop to make mink travel over trap to access sardines. Or set sardine can a few inches back in mouth of 4" PVC with trap in front.
A mink's neck is so muscular it feels like your wrist. You may as well buy a steel trap cause you will have another mink sooner or later.

We used to set Yo-Yo's early spring for crappie and would have a few fish skeletons up in the cypress tree limbs every night.
One night we finally caught the turd, it was a mink swimming from the bank then pulling the crappie up the tree to eat it
To catch one nail an old fish head to a tree about two feet off the ground and put a steel trap at the base, in some water if available

Steel trap where your chickens can’t get in it. Or dogs. The mink won’t stop until he gets every one of your chickens.

Call the feed/ag stores to find a steel trap local - maybe a good hardware store.

I’ve got a bunch of roofing tin next to my shed. I’m going to line the perimeter of the coop with that tim and leave that hole open that he has been using to get in.
Would putting the live trap with one of the recently killed chickens on the inside of the coop facing the hole work? That way as soon as he enters that hole and crosses through, he’s in the trap

Powpow used to always say that if mink weighed 10 pounds it wouldn't be safe to live here.
