Finally breaking down and getting another lab. Looking for a recommendation on a new vet.
I used kleinpeter in past but they have since it hands, costs went up and experience seemed to fall off.
I know they are all expensive, but anyone have a vet they feel still cares about the animals and not just the up sell for another dollar?

Go see Dr. Loftin in Central. Privately owned practice, not corporate like the majority of offices these days. Great guy and vet.

White Oak Animal Clinic on Oneal is good. I got sick of the upselling too and switched here — mainly because I know one of the veterinarians and she’s definitely not the type to suggest something you don’t need. It feels sorta like an old school vet practice with younger, up-to-date veterinarians. We’ve been happy with them so far!

Absolutely David Butler at the entrance to Oak Hills from Perkins. Village Animal Clinic. Behind the Shell Station. We have used him for probably 20 years. He never rushes you out, will not charge you for unnecessary things and will help you cut costs if needed by telling you about an OTC alternative if one is available.

Not that far from campus is Garden District Animal Hospital. My wife was a vet tech there before going to vet school. The owner also was a vet tech there before vet school, then bought it from the previous owner. Her name is Dr. Anderson.

I’ve used Dr Waguespack and Dr. Fazio for my pack for years, highly recommend. Dr. Butler is great, but for some reason I thought he’d retired. I live in the same area as the OP.

Dr. Butler is still there. Our dog has Cushings disease and he has been so good in working with us to treat it and find medications that don’t cost a fortune.

Used to bring my dog to him when I lived in Baton Rouge. He's great. He's the only vet that ever told me to keep giving my dog cattle ivermectin because he couldn't sell me anything that cheap. He checked on the dosage I was giving and said keep it up.
