3-9 x 5. Looking at some local places and the costs have varied widely.

$50-125. Vari x is pre vx model , still good glass , still lifetime warranty. I like the old model Bushnell 3200 elite with raingard as comparable scope Check eBay

I wish.. but $200-$300 is more accurate

They are $450 brand new right now at sport optics.
I'd say $250-300 would be a reasonable price for a used one in good condition.

Disagree with this. Vari-x II scopes are quality pieces. I have 2 of them and a bushnell elite 3200. There is no comparison between the two. The bushnell is terrible in low light and at daybreak the glare is horrible. The most critical hunting times and the scope is uselesss. My 3200 sits in my gun safe and I'll never use it.
I just picked up a used 3x9 40mm vx2 for 125 and feel like I stole it. Didn't really need it, but the price was right. They are good at low light and the warranty is exceptional. I just returned a vx2 (40 years old) because a gunsmith recommended it (he said cloudy) and leupold sent a brand new one.
Id say 250 for a used one would be a fair price.

Take a look an eBay and pricing on a national market is much better/higher than loose old scopes at our local gun shops. I buy them when I see them but they usually have rings marks and hazing m. The old gloss ones with polish up with flitzs as a blued gun. $200-300 is too much but to each his own but know some believe the durability and the glass is as good as new vx coated glass
