Looking at getting a floor jack but stuck on what size to get. I have a full-size pickup, my wife has a full-size SUV and we have a golf cart, UTV and trailer.

Mostly need it to change tires/brake pads or any small maintenance kind of things.

Trying to decide if I need a 2.5, 3 or 4 ton lift.

3 ton probably plenty unless you plan to lift the whole truck. Make sure you get enough lift to get the truck off the ground though

any 2 or 2 1/2 ton jack is more than enough for all your needs, get the ones that come with the carrying case, so you arent always listening to them rattling around while you drive

once you get bigger than that, they arent really portable, and they are heavy as shite to move or carry.

if you want something to stay in the garage and not carry around, then get a 4 ton, so you can lift the entire front or rear end of the ground, if need be

I have a low profile, long reach 3 ton. I am not sure what regular vehicle I would have trouble lifting with it.

3 ton suv Jack that can lift 20”.

Most 2-2 1/2 ton jacks won’t lift high enough. Check the specs. Just recently dealt with this.

I keep a 12” long piece of 6x6 framers discarded when my house was being built for this. Works great.

Low pro, long reach, and the ones that Jack up fast in the biggest tonnage you want to spend on. Might look at some Jack stands and wheel blocks too.

A good 3-ton service jack will do 95% of what you need it to do. I have one, two Torrin 1.5-ton jacks, and several bottle jacks from 4 - 20 tons. I would like a high-lift pnematic axle jack though, great for fullsize trucks.

This…

Get a 3 ton. Some are sold as kits with a creeper and two Jack stands. Highly recommend two Jack stands. Also, if you buy Jack stands separate. Get at least 3 ton stands, height comes with tonnage on those, too.

Floor jacks take up a lot of space if space is a premium. I have a 3.5 ton one that is about 40 years old and it must weigh about 300 pounds. The damn handle weighs about 50 pounds by itself. I have a 5 ton bottle jack that is also heavy but it doesn't take up more than about 36 square inches

That’s the deal. Compare it to the $1000 Snap on.
Appears to be the same jack.

I wouldn't rule out a Quickjack. They have one that will lift your SUVs. More money and probably a bit more pita to store but one lift and done. No jackstands to fool with and higher off the floor.
