What to do with a Bobcat

Got my first ever cat this evening. Was just going to toss it and be glad to take out another predator on our lease.
Every mount I've seen looks weird and they ain't cheap. Any suggestions of something cool to do with it?

Bobcats are one of the hardest animals to mount and actually look like a live animal. If you have it mounted do extensive research on the taxidermist, very few can do a good job mounting them.
You could have it sent off and tanned but if it's not a pretty spotted up cat they turn out kind of bland.

Some of the Bobcat skull mounts, that I have seen, look nice.

Yeah, I killed one a few years ago, and I wanted to get it mounted so I kept it wrapped up in the freezer for a while, and I asked around about costs. It was going to cost more than I wanted to spend, so I ended up just burying it.
I only killed it because it was staying around my Mom's house too much, and she had a little dog that liked to be outside a lot. It may have been sick or something.

With cats - you get what you pay for.
$1000 from award winning taxidermists
$350 from Bubba’s Taxidermy

Because we are covered up with them and my turkey numbers are down. I've been patient for years, but a little predator thinning needs to happen now.

That taxidermy job is the main reason I click on any OB thread about bobcats

Who would pay 350 for that second bobcat job?

At the time, nobody. Now...probably a whole bunch of people that would pay $350 for that legendary piece of art

Shot one several years ago and had the hide tanned. Came out great and was far less than the $350 bubba mount. The taxidermist kept the claws in. Very cool hide to have at camp.

Use it to learn how to tan a hide. They have thin hides so it would be good practice. What caliber rifle?
Never tried it but the meat is supposedly tasty.

Skin it out and eat it. They are supposed to be fine table fare.
