What type line do y’all use on baitcasters?

I’ve always been a braid guy. I fish a Lews and 13 fishing baitcaster pretty hard and have Fins windtamer 30lb test on them. Never had an issue with either setup, both cast smooth and long with no issues. I recently bought two new 13 fishing baitcasters and found some 15lb braid on sale and spooked them with that. This past weekend I had all kinds of issues with those reels. I couldn’t get a cast in without making a huge birds nest. Then at the end of the day, one of my lines dug into itself and snapped in the spool.
Anyone had these issues? Should I stick to a larger braid? I was thinking the smaller diameter braid may be giving me issues.

This is your issue. The small line diameter on a bait caster is usually not recommended because it will dig into itself as you experienced. I'm sure some braids are better than others for this, but I generally don't recommend going below 30lb braid on a bait caster.

I use 20lb sufix 832 and have no issues. I put powerpro super slick v2 on my newest baitcaster tho and can't stand it. About to strip it all off and respool with sufix.

Braid in all of them; 40 lb in most and 60 in a couple. I will tie on a 20 lb fluoro leader when fishing flukes....Power Pro only

I have some 30 lb j braid I tried because the 20 was constantly causing problems. J braid seems to be working well, but it is super slick. Bought a new reel and got the Suffix 833 braid to try, seems really nice.

I use fluorocarbon, mono, co-poly, and braid. Depends on the application. But for braid I usually use 65#.

Min 30 lb braid.
I have braid on every reel I own.

14 lb Cajun. Cheap and fish both fresh and salt. Never had any problems catching big bass or 28" redfish.

Used to throw 50lb power pro on every reel, then I had a friend talk me into fluorocarbon. For about a year I rolled with Seaguar 12/15lb fluoro with no issues and actually enjoyed it better than braid. That was until two weekends ago I had 5 reds break off in Golden Meadow, all breaks were away from the knot and it looked like the line was just exploding. Now every reel has 50lb power pro back on, can't wait to just horse them back in.

I use 15-20 lb braid.
Never had an issue and can cast it a mile.

30 Lb. J braid is the lightest I go.

All but two are mono. Two braid or braid like lines like Gliss.

I use 17lb fluorocarbon, and 30lb Power Pro braid. I only use mono for bream fishing.
Have any of you found some braid that doesn't fade as fast as Power Pro? I hate a faded braided line.
This reminds me, I have to respool a couple reels for my little tournament this weekend. I hope the weather holds off until Sunday evening.

It annoys me but not enough to spend the $$$ to respool. I usually have a leader tied on so it doesn't matter. If I tie direct, I'll just color the last 6-8' of the braid with a black or green sharpie periodically. I got that tip from KVD so I imagine it works well enough.

I do the same thing. But it annoys me

That's my one gripe with Suffix 832 braid. Original PP does better with fading but it is such an otherwise inferior product.
The Ardent Gliss superline hasn't faded on me yet in the dark green. I throw 8lb on my spinning setups but know they make up to 40lb I believe. Alx may have some more insight. I know he throws it a bunch, or did at one point anyway.

Classic "Ain't broke don't fix it" scenario, except you tried to fix it and broke it.
I use Flourocarbon on all my bass reels except my flipping and jig lines. All Seaguar InvisX, however I did get some Yo-Zuri Top Knot on sale and put it on two of my lines, so I did the exact same thing
