I like to use good fishing line

What brand braid line? What brand fluoro line for the leader? How long is your leader? What knot do you use to tie the braid and fluoro leader together for better casting?

For tight lining deep brush piles I use 20# power pro. That way I can pull free if I hang up in the brush pile.

Use 6 lb clear mono on casting poles. Use 10 lb high vis yellow mono or yellow braid in my jig poles with two feet of 6 lb mono at end. Helps see the thump or see your line go slack. Know lots of people who use the yellow line only and no clear attached to end and it’s fine in muddy or stained water, but can’t convince me the fish don’t notice it in clear water.

Also if fishing with a straight jig or jig under a cork, tie a loop know so that the jig hangs horizontally

The absolute best is Nanofil 6lb. Second is Gliss 6 lb. I generally tie those to a 6-8 lb flouro or mono leader using a swivel.

I spooled up with 6# mono equivalent suffix on one of my ultralights last year and it simply doesn't cast as well as 6# mono. Also, I often use a bobber stopper and the bead doesn't slide as easily on the braid, especially with light weight bait/jig.

I think Im respooling with mono on that one.
