Where is the hour meter on my boat motor?

Actually my dad's boat. The motor is a 2003 200hp Mercury Saltwater Series.
Can't seem to find the meter on it. There is no hour meter on the dash panel either.

Not all boats have them. A tech can probably hook the computer to it and tell you the hours.

Like Jmeng said it is an option. You could buy one and mount it in the dash if you wanted to. My dad had some manual hour meters he had mounted on his old whaler so he could calculate his fuel consumption and plan for his maintenance. They should be standard on anything with an engine IMO.

Pretty sure the newer outboards with cpu's log them even if you don't have a remote meter. The older outboards it would just be wired in so it would register any time the motor was started.

what guage/s does the boat have? I have 01 225 Optis with the smartcraft guages... I just toggle thru the menu til you get to "engine hours"...
Hope that helps

Well, hell. I had NO idea you could get one of these on a panel. I worry and worry about my "running hours" for maintenance. I bring it in once a year but think I'm well under 100 running hours but hate to chance it.
It's getting pretty expensive though; in fact, I've thought about learning how to change my oil. I think there's a pump I'd need but have no idea.

Outboard or I/O? Changing the oil is very easy!
