I’m looking to pick up a few more suppressors to have by this time next year so I’ll probably be buying one every month or two until summer time.

So far I only have a Hyperion K .30 cal and I ordered a Dead Air Primal so I can shoot stuff larger than .30 cal. Things I will be shooting suppressed eventually:

.22 long rifle
.556 AR’s
.308 cal AR’s
.300 Win AR
.300 Blackout SBR
6.8 SPC AR
25/06 bolt gun
6.5 PRC Bolt
6.5 Creed Bolt
.308 Bolt
9mm pistol
10mm pistol
.45 cal pistol

All the bolt guns I have now listed are long barrels but threaded so I’ll use the shorter Hyperion K for those so I may buy one more to cover those rifles so I’m switching between so many. I know I’ll want a .22 long rifle one just not sure the brand and I will want another .30 cal probably the best one that is fully auto rated.

I don’t know what you should get but I’ll share what I’m thinking.

I have a full sized hyperion, my next one will probably be a .22 can(cgs hydra) , a dedicated .556 can (flow556), smaller 30 cal can(diligent defense enticer s or hyperion k). I could probably take care of the last two with a helios qd ti.

Are you direct threading or do you have some mount system you are sticking to?

Direct threading is what I have been doing.

Anything I should stay away from?

Anything truly dedicated calibers I need?

I always look for suppressors that won’t affect my zero. My surefire cans aren’t the lightest or as quiet as some but built like tanks. My guns shoot the same zero with the cans.

My recommendation is to avoid anything with aluminum baffles.

I have a surefire with aluminum baffles and it’s quiet but I hate cleaning it.
I have a Q El Camino that I love and would highly recommend it.

Not not as up on all the others. I have a Q Thunder Chicken and a Dead Air sandman.
The sandman is bullet proof but heavy. The Thunder chicken is very quiet and pretty light.

CGS helios QD inconel is the strongest 30 cal can made, you will melt the barrel on a m249 before you will melt the can.

I’m probably going to get the full size Hyperion and maybe the Nomad L next.

Anyone have experience with the The SOCOM556-RC2 .556?

I talked to Silencer Shop yesterday. They allege at least a 2 month wait for a Nomad L to be in stock.

My only complaint with them is they showed it in stock with 4 left, I pay, then they hit me with the “back order” message.

It’s $1400. I have the titanium version for the same price because I’m not out there dumping mags and I will definitely keep it below 800 degrees.

Nomad L is about as quiet as a Hyperion but it has wayyyyyy more back pressure and it has a loud first round pop which is a bigger concern if you hunt. Also the titanium dead air cans kinda suck. They use ultra thin baffles and are more susceptible to erosion than the Hyperion. I would get a Hyperion between the two.

Pew Science has the Nomad L at 52 & the Hyperion at 52.3.

Does the helios qd do pretty good with back pressure? I don’t want to have to adjust my gas block between shooting suppressed and unsupressed. It seems like the flow556 is the only one that would work like that from reading.

A flow 556 is great on an untuned host that is backpressure heavy (something like a mk18). It is very hard to beat that can for that type of system. Me personally, I like to tinker and tune guns so I would work on tuning my gun for the specific can. I run my Helios with heavier buffers and heavier springs and it’s great. Even on my untuned AR pistol, it won’t gas you out like a lot of small bore cans will. Benefit of the Helios is it isn’t dedicated to 5.56 and it comes with direct thread for both 5/8x24 and 1/2x28. Long story short, if you don’t wanna tune, it’s hard to beat the flow 556k but if you like to tinker, the Helios is very nice. It doesn’t gas me out like some of the 5.56 dedicated cans have in the past for me.

Pew Science

Jay has changed the industry. Only thing people should be paying attention to when buying cans for sound purposes. Only drawback to PewScience is he hasn’t tested everything.

Another good option is the liberty precision machine anthem S. Great option for the hosts discussed here. Also, for pistol cans Rize, I like the rugged obsidian 45 a lot still. It’s still good. For 9mm, I’m waiting on the new Cgs mod9x. Will be 3D printed titanium and is supposedly very very impressive and light. Thunderbeast fly45 and fly9 are apparently great too.

Kinda wishing I would have just got the Hyperion vs the Primal but I need something to shoot .45.

Bought it at Bowie’s yesterday.

I heard this may work with 350 legend, it may be my next can if it does, for the helios I like that option because it seems like it would do what I want from the flow and from the hyperion k with the threads and end caps being changeable and being lighter.

Primal is ok, I wish it had coaxial baffles like a nomad but it’s fine for what it is. Not knocking the purchase as it’ll do what you need but it’s a better .45-70 can than it’ll be a pistol can imo.
