i bought my 24 bluewave in 2020 loaded out for what most aluminum rigs are going for now. its pretty insane to think that a new 24' bay boat is double what I paid 5 years ago.
When boat prices were on the rise in 2021 or so I was offered stupid money for my 24 but I decided to keep and I'm glad I did because I would never pay these prices.
The nola boat show is this weekend, id be curious to see the prices on bay boats.
Like someone said the blackjacks have gotten so expensive, a used 2016-2020 model is going for damn near 100k and thats stupidity.
boat prices will never go down as lng as people keep financing them

This is where I’m at, need some things to come through in the next year and then I want a new to me ocean boat want to get into 30class, current boat is 24 and a Cuddy cabin I now want a catamaran or one of the tried and true contenders or regulators then repower and fresh in it up with a year of services a gelcoat maybe fuel cell repairs, so probably looking at a hull no trailer to get it to my number, and then I want a 18-19’ big aluminum boat used and slap an old 2stroke on it. Be my bass, bay and hunting rig just beat it to hell.
Until then I’m just gunna try and keep happy with what I got

I know where there's an old 30something contender stuck off in the weeds of a cow pasture. I need to go see what it looks like. Its got to be in horrendous condition but if the bones are still good imma try to get it.

If you don’t buy it tell me where it is and I will. Not even joking lol that’s exactly what I’m looking for right now

If you look long enough you can find deals but you also have to be ready to buy it the minute it hits the interwebs. Wait one day and it's gone. I looked for 4-5 months before i found the boat i wanted last year, sold my bay boat 4 days later for 8 thousand more than i paid for it.

Yep. I’ve been looking for months. Just nothing fitting my criteria popped up yet.
People still wanting $100k+ for 2001 27open contender that needs new tanks and engines
Only cheap ones are cuddy cabins and I’m not buying a cuddy cabin.
Almost hoping to find one that sunk at the dock on Coopers Salvage auctions but even those are high dollar these days

Im working on getting a hold of the guy who owns the land to see if he'll let me go look at it. I'd rather you buy it than me, if he gave me the boat It'd be a long time before I could afford to power it.

Shoot me email with you email or phone # if you’re serious. Even if you end up getting it, I’ve rebuilt many a contender and would gladly help out. I know those hulls like the back of my hand.

It's nuts. All boats.
I water-ski a ton still. I remember back 2010ish seeing that the new wake boats were hitting 100k. And us sitting on the boat BS'ing about how they'll come down because nobody would ever pay that. Now they're 220k and up!
Even aluminum and bass boats 60-80-100k.
Can buy a dang custom Uncle J cheaper than a decent glass boat.
It's all wild.
I have a 96 MB sports direct drive. That I'll realistically never sell.
And I've had the same 16'aluminum since 98.
I just stumbled into an insane deal on an Xpress 18' so I upgraded and it will probably be a forever boat as well. And I'm selling the old 16'.
I'm mid 30's. And a teacher coach. Full time single dad of 3. I never understand the cars parked in the parking lot, what these other people do, and the toys they have and vacations they go on.

Just bought a new 21’ bay boat. Went over to Texas to get it. Much cheaper than anywhere
Took it to get rigged out for fishing and holy crap that can get expensive really quick There was a waiting list for people to rig their bass boats
You can easily easily spend 20k on trolling motors and electronics

Yep. I looked for many months in '21/22, which was peak crazy prices. I would just laugh at some of the prices listed. Found mine (20' Sportsman) an hour after it was listed at like 10pm on a week night. Told him I'd be there the next morning. I was already 3rd in line. Lucked out and got it for what I felt like was a steal.

You can finance that now too!
Just finance all of it forever. You can die before you pay it off and make it your kids problem

Countless 100k trucks dragging around 200k+ (and drastically more) boats with a bunch of under 40 year old dudes running it all.
It's crazy the number of young bucks at the harbor here every weekend with Platinum f-250s, pulling $100k bay boats.
