Any of y’all use one and recommend it? There’s a few on Amazon but not sure if they’re worth a damn.

YoLink is working well for me. Have a sensor inside 2 freezers and the wifi connection has been solid, and that's penetrating 2 external walls to reach the router.

So you have access to temps at all times even when you leave the house?

Assuming you just want to make sure its working? You could also just get a plug that has an app that lets you know when its not connected/ loses power. Most of the time there are deep freezer issues its when the power goes out, rarely do they have power and stop working. So just a plug that monitors the power to them is all that's really needed. BUt I'm making a couple assumptions here.

I’m more worried about kids and wife leaving it open
It’s happened before and lots of seafood was lost. Trying to find something that’ll alert me anytime temp spikes whether I’m home or not.

Any recommendations on this?

i have a tempstick https://tempstick.com/
works great, keeps history, custom temp alarms, no monthly payment, can check in on it anytime/from anywhere. saved my arse when gfci tripped on vacation, had a neighbor come reset it.
expensive but only issue is replacing the battery every couple of months

Yes. There is an app on my phone used to monitor the temps. It will also send a text message and/or email if the temp exceeds a setpoint. I use this on outside freezers that don't get used very often.

Level Sense alarm has worked great for me. Multiple probes in the same app, ability to trend. Sends alarms to email and text or whatever you select.

I use Sensor Push LINK. I have 5 - outdoor freezer, attic, outside, few areas of the house. Very reliable - replaceable battery seems to have a life of a couple years, none have ever gone bad and 3 of the 5 are 4 years old. I buy them on Amazon.
Now you only have Bluetooth range (300 ft?) and if you want to monitor conditions remotely then you need to purchase the gateway router for $100.

Even the lab quality ones are not that expensive. We use Thomas Scientific monitors in all of our lab coolers and freezers and the monitors can be had for under $100. The contents include hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of reagents, specimens, and drugs and we trust them enough for that.

I have just a simple wireless one with the readout on the counter by the sink. It’s not wifi but I pass the sink several times per day. Can set it to alarm if goes above a certain temp

Step 1:
Replace GFCI receptacle (not readily accessible, dedicated to freezer) with a non-GFCI receptacle.
Step 2:
?????????????
Step 3:
Profit
Side note: before 2008, the National Electrical Code exempted receptacles dedicated to a freezer that were behind the freezer in a garage. Some son of a bitch from Leviton somehow got the exemption removed so he can sell more GFCIs. Many local AHJs still allow this exemption. If there’s a ground fault within the freezer wiring or motor, it’s just going to trip the 20A breaker feeding the circuit.

Temp Stick
I have two outdoor freezers with them in it and I get about a year out of lithium batteries.

Good thread! Thanks to those that shared info. I have needed this for my freezers.

I’m gonna order the temp stick. $139 isn’t much more than the price of one fishing trip so well worth it. 2 years ago, wife left freezer open and I tossed 25 quarts of trout, lots of shrimp, oysters, and other various meats I’d bought on sale. It wasn’t a good week in the jack household
