Depends. Still need the facts to come out. Were both boats on plane? That will be a big factor.

Most likely.
Pictures show he t-boned that CC dead center at a very high rate of speed. Those men on the CC died from blunt force trauma, IMO. Drowning occurred because they were unconscious when they hit the water.
Families will probably seek recourse on MLF.

Agree. Boyd has to be shitting his pants right now

I would think that there would be video from Boyd.

MLF doesn't release much when it comes to things like this.
They have to have tight sphincters right about now.

I'm trying to not arrive at an opinion until we know all the facts but it doesn't look real good for Flint or MLF at the moment.
Still not sure why they would release the anglers under power during a fog situation.
Should have delayed or idle only.

I cant remember what happened with the other guy that died in a MLF/FLW event. Kid got thrown out at Okeechobee and drawn a few years back.
Does anyone remember if there were lawsuits on that one?

On Jan. 4, Nik Kayler, 38, of Apopka — world-class fisherman, veteran, husband and father — lost his life on the waters of Lake Okeechobee while competing in a bass fishing tournament.
According to reports released Wednesday from a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission investigation into the incident, Kayler was ejected from the vessel operated and owned by William Kisiah, 51, of Slidell, Louisiana. Kisiah was unable to get Kayler back into his boat, and Kayler later drowned.
Nik Kayler, 38, of Apopka, drowned while competing in a bass fishing tournament on Lake Okeechobee Jan. 4.
The investigation included data collected from the boat's electronics, interviews with Kisiah and information provided by the Lee County Medical Examiner's Office. The office conducted an autopsy after Kayler's body was located by a commercial fisherman Jan. 10 about 2 miles from Clewiston.

Someone needs to tell this guy you cant put "me" first

Davis also released a brief statement on his social media account, " I want to thank everyone for the thoughts and prayers. I ask that you keep me and all of the other affected people and families in your prayers. I'll let you guys know more when I can."

The CC was stationary and not moving.

Is this in an official report?

Short answer, no. Not yet.
It was in the thread on the Ot lounge yesterday. Based on an eyewitness report. There is supposedly video that was turned over to the Alabama state police. The police haven't released it yet as it's an ongoing investigation.

From the other thread. There was at least some fog in the area.

If that is what the lake looked like at start, that's not near enough fog to warrant a delay or obstruct visibility to cause an accident.
The comment about speeding around a blind curve seems more plausible than fog, if it looked like these images.

In that area, I agree. And I posted that picture in the other thread for that reason. Now we all know that other areas may have had more. I dont know what witnesses are out there but it will be interesting to find out exactly what happened

Did the struck boat have running lights? Did it have an anchor/nav light? Hard to see any boats on the water without em.

No clue. Until the investigation is over and everything is confirmed we can only speculate. I doubt he'd be charged with homicide though. If anything he'd be charged with manslaughter IF he caused it. But like I said until authorities conclude the investigation we won't know. My thoughts and prayers are with all those involved. To everyone on here, please be careful when out on the water. We're not promised tomorrow and you never know when death is gonna come knocking. God bless
