Anyone have experience with this setup? Thoughts?
I have the first Work Sharp belt sharpener. I like it. But this is supposedly better.
I got the au'vey.

this is going to sound snooty but a good stone and a good steel is all you really need. Even I can do it and I suck at it
I would immediately lose all those pieces parts and it would collect dust in my pantry along with all the other sharpening gadgets I have

I have the Ken Onion edition WorkSharp with the 18" belt accessory. I get all my knives hair popping sharp, especially with a leather stropping belt charges with green compound. Nothing I've found work faster though I have water stones up to 16,000 grit for some of my Japanese cutlery and chisels.

I have the precision elite diamond and the Ken Onion belt sharpener. I prefer the precision elite. I read that on tougher/harder steels the belt sharpeners can heat the blade edge so much that it messes with the tempering along the blade edge. I still use the Ken Onion for kitchen knives and such but I can get a knife wayyy sharper with the diamond stones. It also works really well on broadheads.

I can get a straight razor usable with the belt sharpener and a leather belt. I dont see how anything could be "better" besides a real set of whetstones and lots of patience.

How long does it take you to sharpen a typical pocket knife with the elite?
With the original version of the work sharp belt sharpener I can sharpen a knife in minutes to shave hair off my arm.
However, when I bought a set of Dexter Russell Knives I had never seen any knife as sharp as those. Insanely sharp. If you just touch the edge you were cut. Very impressive to say the least. Scary sharp.
I'm very interested in the Pro Adjust. But from what I've read the stones are shite. But everything else is good.

That's cool and all, but the regular belt sharpener is a 10 second job to go from not very sharp to shaving. It's generally a fair bit of work to get from that to broadhead blade straight razor sharp and IMO is never worth it. Stuff THAT sharp is basically single use unless you're careful with it.

2nd this recommendation. Quick, fun who in the hell wants to spend all day sharpening a knife? I had a chef's knife that had all kinds of edge issues. It ground all of that down in a few minutes.

If you're not setting a new angle about 5 minutes

Got one 2 years ago. Read up on it and proceeded to ruin 2 knives. It's now in the closet. I got a Smiths Tri Stone and love it.

I have the Precision Adjust Elite as well because the price difference between it and the Pro you linked was too much. I bought a little 3d printed support for it on ebay for $9 because the Pro came with one.
It's amazing. Ran through all of our cutlery in an evening and made all of our blades crazy sharp. put a new edge on a few older knives in my shed as well and that was impressive, considering how long it would take me with whet stones.
The elite is worth every penny. Not sure about the pro.

No doubt that the design will work. The blade vice and angle set will enable anybody to put an edge on a blade at a precise angle, thus making it fairly simple to get a very sharp knife.
If this is worth $300 to you, go for it.

If OP is planning on spending that much, save a little more and get a Tormek. It’s the best sharpening system out there, hands down.
I have the 1st work sharp. I don’t like it. I’d take my Lansky 5 stone kit over the work sharp.

I use my Lansky 4 stone diamond set. My dad gave me some cheap Work Sharp thing. It's the bench stone thing for 50 bucks on Amazon. I tried it once and threw it away.

I've got the Ken Onion edition and love it. Sure I know how to work a stone, but this is so much faster.

I have a KME that came with 50,100,120,300,600,1200 grit diamond stones, ceramic stones, and a leather strop with 3000 grit emulsion fluid. I paid $320 for that kit. Seems like the extra $20 is worth it over the one you posted. I love my KME too. I use it for all my knives, coworkers knives, and my iron will broadheads.

I have the non-professional version of this and it works very well.
Oh, and *envie.

It's not great for those, for sure. I use a regular WS belt model for standard kitchen knives (everything from decent Wustoff to Victorinox) because my wife does shite to make them dull that I don't even understand.
I have a couple of nice Japanese kitchen knives and some super-steel pocket knives, and I use stones or a WS Precision with aftermarket diamond stones for them. The belt models are handy but it's difficult to keep a nice tip with them and they do remove material in hurry.
