Out of town and need to pick up some 2 stroke motor oil for a yammer hammer 90 2 stroke. The motor has always ran yamalube through it but I'm out. What can I use, any full synthetic?

Just the traditional 2 cycle outboard oil that quicksilver makes?

Yes, you don't need to use anything fancy in that motor.

I use quicksilver.
Dont know how true it is but someone told me that you should always stick to the same "color oil" . you can change the color but only if youpretty much empty out the oil tank. I've never stuck to the rule. I'm guessing the color hasxto do with the chemical makeup.

I have run pennzoil synthetic blend in my Yamaha 2 stroke for the last 200 gallons of fuel. That's equal to about 70 ish hours of run time. I use a little startron if my boat is going to sit for more than a week or two.

Never a single issue. One easy pull and it starts right up, even when it's cold. No issues with excess smoke.

I think frequency of use is more important that oil brand.

Ant TCW-3 outboard oil will work just fine, but the Quicksilver mercury oil is probably the closest in formulation to the Yamalube. At least that is what one Yamaha Industry Rep told me.

Penzoil Premium Plus, a synthetic blend. Can get it most anywhere for $20/gallon.

I run the cheapest TCW-3 I can find, 75 hp Yammy FWIW, never had any problems.

If you can find it, Mystic makes great 2-stroke oils. I've used their synthetic PWC oil in my old Kawasaki with great results. Their outboard oil runs very clean.
