Trump and his Trumpkins are bitching about an interview that probably helped Trump in the run up to the election in it's edited format.
Why was there the need to seriously edit the interview? What was CBS's motivation for doing so?
When you both seek and find the answers to these two questions you will truly be enlightened, grasshoppa.

You clearly don’t understand why Redstone / 60 Minutes is worried …
it’s because you cannot legally do what they did without liability in the US
Yes, the first amendment permits free speech … but it does not protect you from the consequences of your actions

How anyone can watch that boring arse show is beyond me. It was depressing as a kid and is still depressing as an adult.

made it clear that he “would not be allowed to run the show as I have always run it” or make “independent decisions based on what was right for 60 Minutes.” (basically admitting he ordered the editing)
Journalists are supposed to report the news, not create it. “Editing” an interview to change one’s answers isn’t journalism, it’s propaganda.

So, you don't fire a guy unless you are ready to (use it as leverage) to settle

Independence” is an odd thing to call lying.
Gfy
Democrat media figurehead bemoans his loss of "freedom to disseminate propaganda" (independence).
Who saw that coming?

News outlets are entitled to edit as they see fit. 60 Minutes edited Harris ( probably to avoid her word salad) and they can do it.
You have lost your way. Each post from you is more antagonistic than it is based in reality. They didnt just edit her word salad, they changed her answers. To protect her.
They did not air this statement from her, but would not have hesitated to use it against Trump, In fact, would have led with it
quote:
This is an election for president of the United States. No one should be able to take for granted that they can just declare themselves a candidate and automatically receive support. You have to earn it.
She didnt earn anything. She would have been mocked to high heaven if they would have ran that statement. Plus, they spliced answers from two questions together
quote:
CBS kept the first sentence of the former vice president's response, 'Okay so the other economists that have reviewed my plan versus my opponent.'
But the transcript showed CBS sliced up her answer by removing the next part of her sentence.
'Because this is an election and there are two choices, everyone from Goldman Sachs to Moody's to Nobel laureates, so on the first point, comparing my economic plan to Donald Trump's economic plan, they have reviewed it,' Harris continued.
The aired version pieced her first sentence with this bit she said later on. 'And determined that my economic plan would strengthen America's economy, his would weaken it,' Harris said.

I hope Trump continues with his lawsuit. None of those Marxist propagandist gave him a break.

Doesn't matter. They are allowed editorial discretion.

CBS can do that. Press outlets are entitled to a wide latitude.

Do they when it is to purposely benefit, or hurt, nominee in an election?

Maybe in New Zealand, but not here
quote:
The Center for American Rights, filed a news distortion complaint against CBS and its flagship television station, WCBS-TV, in New York.
“CBS distorted the news by using its slice-and-dice method of journalism to justify cleaning up the Vice President’s muddled and meandering answers"
From the FCC site
quote:
What is the FCC's responsibility?
The FCC has had a policy against "news distortion" in over-the-air broadcast (local TV and radio stations) news for over 50 years. News distortion "must involve a significant event and not merely a minor or incidental aspect of the news report." In weighing the constitutionality of the policy, courts have recognized that the policy "makes a crucial distinction between deliberate distortion and mere inaccuracy or difference of opinion." As a result, broadcasters are only subject to enforcement if it can be proven that they have deliberately distorted a factual news report.
I mean at this point, the firing of the head of 60 Minutes is a clear indication that he purposely distorted the story, for the benefit of only one candidate in the race
Theyre guilty and now want to settle, in order to preserve their license, Only because they are in danger of losing it.

You should handle it, it shouldnt be front page news.
Handle it like a professional at work, when its all done and youve wrapped it up with a bow and its blessed then you tell everyone what you did and you get your pat on the back.
You dont talk shite and brag until the fricking job is done. Trump runs his mouth too much but has nothing to stand on.
What they have been doing is horseshite. Its all talk, nothing has run through congress. Its a fricking show.
Not one word of this incoherent rambling makes a bit of sense.

Trump had ample opportunity to go on 60 Minutes and state his case. He was offered, he rejected the offer. Because the press outlet afforded to both candidates the same opportunity, they are very much in the clear
Baloney! He was offered no such thing. What Trump was offered was to go to the 60 Minutes studio and put a bunch of interviewing on tape so that 60 Minutes could edit it to make him look like shite. That is a lot different than offering him an unedited interview.
