I rarely eat at the old International House of Pancakes; but plan to work them into our plans moving forward

the stores in Bham make good grits (aside - in the mid 90's; I got instant Quaker grits from the pouch at an IHOP in LA)

kids love the place

AND, they are being cancel cultured by the insane left

Going Viral: Sign Spotted at iHop Has Democrats Furious, Blames Biden for Staff Shortages and Reduced Hours

quote:

A sign posted at an iHop restaurant has infuriated liberals and sparked a firestorm on social media.

One of America’s favorite national restaurants is reducing its hours and battling staff shortages.

The sign puts blame on Joe Biden and his administration’s economic policies continue to wreak havoc on businesses nationwide.

The sign reads, “Due to the fact that Biden gave out way too much free money and nobody wants to work anymore. We are forced to reduce our hours during this week.”

Thank you for your understanding and patience,” the sign concludes.

Yep. Support the people actually working and tip them above normal when they are doing a good job.

For all you know IHop Corporate be super woke. (Or might not be, we don't know).

This was almost certainly done at the local level.

Ill wait for IHOPs official response. But that particular restaurant needs its community's support.

I Hop needs to pay a decent salary people have better paying jobs. Nothing to do with free money has a lot to do with free enterprise. The country has changed its all about the dollar.

Such a lame interpretation, peppered with a tiny bit of truth...

1) the dollar IS WEAKER now and everything costs more, and that IHOP wage looks worse, ALMOST ENTIRELY due to policies of Biden and the Democratic Congress. IHOP and everyone else HAD to raise wages and signing bonuses BECAUSE of Biden etc., and those costs made it into the menu prices and the cost of everything else their employees must purchase.

2) millions of work-eligible Americans are staying home and collecting benefits

3) I speak to business-owning friends/colleagues regularly, many who pay well above minimum wage. The ones looking to hire have the following in common: for every 20 job applications they receive, approx. 19 only include a name, e-mail address, phone #. The rest of the application is blank. This is 100% the result of the applicant having to apply three for three jobs per week to receive benefits. This is basically legal fraud at this point... pushed by the deranged left.

Minus mentioning Biden by name I’ve seen that sign in a variety of businesses. Facts are a bitch, and these places are tired of getting bitched at for poor customer service when they can’t compete with free money. I even saw one that talked about being patient and polite to their servers because they’re the ones showing up to work.

It’s not as if nobody saw this coming.

I am 70 percent on the side of the businesses but 30 percent on the side of the employees from second had stories I have heard.

There is a call center near me where the boss is known to be a big time a-hole. Major Napoleon complex. Screams at the slightest thing. If he's in a good mood things are actually okay, if he is hung over (every other day) he will go off about a wastepaper container not being exactly two inches from a wall or something. But the pay is good so people just "took it" for the money. No more "I don't have to put up with this crap" and they all left. Now FINALLY the boss got canned (he was being kept on because he was brother-in-law to some mid manager) and guess what, almost everyone is back. They were willing to work just not for that clown.

There are a lot of lazy people out there (do you really want them working for you now that you know their true nature) but this is also culling the herd of absurd bosses with attitude or a chip on their shoulder.

I’ve been doing this during this entire fiasco. I tip people I wouldn’t normally tip as well. These people display tremendous honor and character by getting out there and working when they don’t have to, so I do what I can to help make their decision pay off monetarily. These are the people that make us great

Government handing out welfare shouldn’t be the mechanism for that. You said it yourself; the job paid well so they put up with it. That’s the market at work.

A philosophically imperfect but ultimately effective mechanism. I'll take it.

I was on this Burger King thing when they started building rest. down here. I went to one in the mall and there is this one lady in her 30s trying to do three jobs at once because they are shorthanded, and the one kid at the fryer is on his cell. It was like this for two or three visits, I even told a customer or two just what you mentioned above, when they got frustrated.

Then I went in the next couple of times and she was not there. By chance I was somewhere and ran into the general manager and we were talking about their success and |I had to mention the woman and its a shame she left. He laughed, he said "Richard thats the rest I eat at, her name is Shirley, I made her a manager at one of the stores, I too noticed her hard work".

Family owns a small BBQ joint. They’ve had to reduce hours.
Offering great money for the job
Can’t find anyone willing to work
In fact, the individuals who show up for interviews can’t even properly fill out a resume. Something has changed in this country when it comes to work ethic and understanding the “work your way up” concept.

Which is where the support would be.

Besides, don’t you want all businesses to fail so the government can take over fully?
