Anybody on here do any work to solve the homeless problem near you?

If so, what do you do? I am thinking about getting involved. I really should.
I talk shite about what’s going on in Washington, but in reality there are problems near me I could work on and ignore what’s happening far away. Thanks.

Yeah, hand out job applications.
It doesn't work though.

volunteer at a local organization and get to know a few and start helping them out on a personal level. You’ll quickly figure out which ones have potential which ones are full of shite. Some are trying and just need someone to lean on for guidance, mentorship, and financial fallback when things don’t go right.
For example, you could find one that has a study job, but it’s close to minimum wage, and just can’t save enough for a down payment on a place, but they’re reliable and steady.

There aren't homeless around here. My solution would be that they get a job. Dig a ditch. Be the best ditch digger you can be. Show up every day and outperform the other ditch diggers and I can guarantee that you will move up.
If your on drugs, stop using drugs.
Only the truly mentally ill homeless folks need actual help.
Helping folks won't make them tough, motivated, or desire something better.

I stopped giving any money to the charities that provide food and shelter and I never give cash to the beggars at red lights. They learn to move on.

People just don’t get it. There are many homeless people who choose to be homeless. They just enjoy the lifestyle. They might even work to stash some cash then go live in a tent in a city near you and do jack shite until their money runs out. The whole “we need to house all of these poor people” is ridiculous. We need to bus them to Denver and California.

I arrest homeless sex offenders if that counts.
Joking aside, Homelessness in many cases is a choice people make. They are not the victims you are led to believe they are. Some are legitimately incapable of supporting themselves but they are outnumbered by the urban outdoorsmen that plague society these days.

I've only volunteered in a shelter to do kitchen work feeding them.
That's more enabling then a solution.

I did. When I see a homeless person downtown, if he has no food, I will take him into a local restaurant and make him pay for my lunch. It gives them a real sense of ownership in the local economy.

I used to work with the homeless a lot more than I do now.
What I found out thru my own synopsis was that there are three types of homeless.
1) Drug addict
2) Mentally ill- both one and two sometimes go hand in hand.
3) Those who are truly down on their luck and are more embarrassed than anything. They just need a break.
As far as my opinion, the only way to fix the homeless is to start with the mental illness issues and house them together in the asylum's to get them treatment.
Then as far as the drug addict, the easy part is to get them clean. Drugs have a huge pull on them though so it will be tough.
Then the third to me is what welfare should help these who need it the most but are too proud to ask because of the negative connotation that it brings.

Keep Tigertown Beautiful in BR volunteers to clean up the absolute biohazards these vagrants create and live in.
You wont solve the homeless problem, but you will solve a problem created by the homeless

Most homeless have mental problems or addiction problems. Problem is you can't force a mental patient to get help. Tell your representatives we need some kind of mental health reform

we have a growing problem of homeless around Walker Park southeast a mile or so from the Univ of Arkansas
one part of the problem is a virtue signaling leftist elderly couple who has a plot of land and they let homeless camp out there. Trash everywhere, needles, noise, violence, but the elderly leftist fricktard couple loves the attention they get and they love being hated for it.
Because they are evil.
They've had the plot of land for years, which means they probably got it for $5K or inherited it years ago. So no skin off their back. They love getting interviewed by our local dipshit media and basking in the glory of themselves

I volunteered to work doing lunch line at the homeless shelter with a company I was with about 30 years ago. First day, a guy pulled a knife on me.
My team never went back. Not worth the hassle, they really dont appreciate it.
