Audi’s chief executive said the carmaker was moving “full throttle” toward a final decision on building its first U.S. factory, which he said would likely be located near one of parent Volkswagen’s facilities.

quote:

Döllner said Audi had “quite a few options” to respond to tariffs. In addition to the Chattanooga plant, he observed that Volkswagen has started building a plant in Blythewood, S.C., to build Scout vehicles. He said that plant could also be adapted to build some Audis.

Döllner said Audi had already been considering a U.S. plant before Trump’s second term. “We are full throttle ahead” on such plans, he said.

quote:

The new plant would take around three and a half to four years to build, he said, and would likely be set up near an existing Volkswagen facility. Other German automakers have also established plants in the South.

Audi was supposedly planning on doing this before Trump’s tariffs but I am not sure I believe that. Also another project that Louisiana is missing out on. An Audi plant would go great in the old GM plant in Shreveport or on part of the old Avondale Shipyard.

The article did say they wanted to be close to their a parent facility (VW) so their choices make sense

It’s a former car factory sitting unused. People could live across the state line in Texas and commute in.

Then why are they building a Scout plant in SC. We should at least be sending a delegation over to Germany to talk to Audi and try and change their mind on location. What’s the worst that could happen? They say no? Other southern states like Tennessee, Texas, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and South Carolina have become business friendly over the past few decades and are reaping the rewards. Louisiana has become a little more business friendly but not much. Louisiana is getting left further and further behind.

So? The old GM plant was a union site.

Waskom's only 8 miles from the old plant with a straight shot on I-20.

The whole point of buying something like an Audi or a Porsche or a Ferrari etc is that is isn't assembled by lazy low iq American workers.

Not trying to be a jerk but its just the truth. Quality control will go to shite just like the BMW's and Mercedes that are assembled here vs Germany.

Maybe they can start making reliable vehicles?

An Audi is not something you want to own without a warranty or extended warranty.
