I really enjoyed his work when he was in character. As a host, he is almost painfully unfunny.

The 'joke' was that he thought he was fooling most America with his over the top 'conservative' persona, when in fact he hated them, from the very start.

I have said for a long time that you have to go after the corporate ownership of these networks to hold them accountable. They are trying to sell Paramount and the founder and principal shareholder Shari Redstone stands to pocket $1.75 bn. The deal might be held up by Trump's FCC over 60 Minutes and now Colbert's bullshite....CBS isn't scared its the shareholders of Paramount who have had enough now that their money is being fricked with.

I will say that on CC he certainly had some pretty damn funny moments, albeit inconsistently.
At XiBS, he has been completely consumed with the liberal mind virus and Terminal Trump/Musk Derangement Syndrome, to the point that his seething animosity is visible and greatly detracts from whatever humor is still left within him.
