Not wrong, absolutely correct. China needs exports to the USA more than the USA need imports from China.

If it comes to war, the United States Navy and Air Force, can guarantee that a ship leaving a china port will never make it to it's destination. Do you think the EU will or any other county will challenge the USA on this?

Ive worked in the export business to various countries for decades. Different prices for different countries depending on tariffs, vat, all sorts of "fees".

At 125% tariffs, yes the price to consumer will rise, but not 125%. The supplier and the wholesaler in the states will eat a portion of it.

And the consumer ALWAYS has the choice to buy it or not buy it. We are not talking about fuel which is necessary. Or domestic items like eggs which have dropped precipitously

The early mistake that many of us made was to analyze these tariffs as a price-competition. They don’t care as much about their people as we do. They will take the hit and let people suffer longer than our elected official can allow. China doesn’t have to worry about political blowback, but in the US officials do have to worry.

They have cut all precious metal trade with the US. That is something we rely on
