re: Curiously, I looked ahead to potential US World Cup matches. July 6th could be a doozy.

Wait, you actually know what’s going on and all their terminology and shite? Bro how gay are you??!!

I kid. Yep, complete kidding. Just joking around. I probably should’ve hit you with a disclosure2disclaimer at the outset shedding any liability for busted guts (in the comedy sense) or any other laughing related injuries. Or death even. Had a guy laugh himself to death on me once, right there at my feet. I didn’t gaf. I just kept on kepting on.

No. We were bounced by Ghana in the R16 We reached the quarters in 2002.

It’s the only time in the modern era that we won a knockout stage game. And as another post said, we should have beaten the Germans in that quarterfinal match.

Yeah, an Iran team motivated by war and by having to stay in Mexico, play in America, and then immediately travel back to Mexico after each match. Do not want.

It’s more entertaining than baseball and light years better than basketball.

I agree that basketball, esp. that of the NBA, is a shell of itself now and would make Naismith turn over in his grave primarily due to the rampant travelling and double dribbling allowed today. College BB and March Madness is another story as far as excitement in watching a sporting event.

As far as baseball on all levels, I cannot help folks here who cannot realize and appreciate the complexity and strategy of the game and think it is boring compared to soccer. Perhaps I am missing said complexity and strategy pertaining to soccer - but what I can't get over is running up and down the field and much more times than most, goal shots way the eff off, or simply neutralized.

Plus, I have not seen a baseball player flop on the playing field to draw a penalty. In addition, baseball is and should continue to be America's Pastime.

It is interesting that the US is so fixated on establishing soccer as a major sport here for decades now, and most folks don't give a crap.

I don't dislike the sport as much as I dislike the fact that soccer has been pushed as a major sport in the US.

And the flopping again. That right there qualifies soccer as a sport for pussies.

no it isn't, not even close

We've also gotten to the last 32 before by just making previous world cups.
