My money is more on bots (cheaper). There mere existence (even if easily identifiable) sows discord, because a lot of "real" progs glom on to their bullshite.

I remember an online “news” source here in Alabama (I will not write who we all know) having a couple (a real couple) employed whose job was to respond to online comments from the right - until they got rid of the comment section because they - and the writers - were being heckled daily.
Crazy how that source went from the largest news source in the state, with a state-of-the-art building in downtown Birmingham, to absolutely nothing when they took a sharp turn to the left.

There most definitely were paid schills here right before the election. Their might be a few here now. I still cant figure some out, whether they are just blatant idiots or paid to create strife and discord.

Not a doubt in my mind. You can tell when major news is breaking, and all the low post count folks come out of the woodwork to shill whatever position the Uniparty is backing.

After the last election, which a lot of Dems think they lost because of social media and online influence, outside of their traditional mainstream media outlets, you can tell they are making a huge push to jump into the Rogan-esque podcast and online influencer realm. It's blatant. There has been an explosion of TDS'ers on this board coinciding with all that. I have no doubt people are being paid to influence discussion in forums like this online. People probably have several online forums each day they are hitting up and posting on.

I won't discount the possibility but it's mostly just thrown around as an insult. This board thrives on conflict and there aren't enough active progressive posters here to satisfy demand, so "every one is more liberal than the me" applies.

I guess it depends to what extent you genuinely believe TD and the Poli Board has any influence on the larger American conscience and discourse.
This is a great board and a wonderful aggregate for news of the day but before 2019, I didn’t even know TD existed and I suspect most of America still probably doesn’t.
As far as the comments by participating posters, it’s mostly a big old bar room brawl and any variety of insults and attempted gotchas that are often more entertaining than probably influencing anyone out there in the wider country.
If there’s orgs out there actually paying people to post on this board, I’m not sure what they think they’re getting for their money.
