They are useless. Everything is being done from Trump plowing ahead with EO’s. Lot of do nothings. Hasn’t helped that certain members of the party have been derailing full speed progress for their own benefit (I.e massie, Luna)

The President is around for 4 years, they will be around for decades.
There are billions of dollars at stake, generational wealth, that these vultures in Congress are setting themselves up to receive. R or D, it doesn’t matter. The more gridlock and chaos, the better the opportunity to steal. Self righteous pricks actually believe they deserve the money they are skimming.

I have a similar take but it's not necessarily about skimming. They are reluctant to attach themselves to someone who is (1) controversial and (2) in his last term. They want to maintain their power, politically. If a MAGA candidate wins again in 28, I think the republicans will feel much more comfortable with the party realignment that's been brewing for close to a decade now, and the party actually will change.
