Is this what our military has become? My great grandfather's would be pissed.

Vance said
quote:

“Our message to Denmark is very simple: You have not done a good job by the people of Greenland.” “You have underinvested in the people of Greenland and you have underinvested in the security architecture of this incredible, beautiful landmass filled with incredible people. That has to change.”

Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen said
quote:

“We are open to criticism,” Rasmussen said. “But … we do not appreciate the tone in which it’s being delivered. This is not how you speak to your close allies, and I still consider Denmark and the United States to be close allies.”

Col. Susan Meyers trying to calm things down overstepped and wrote an email when she should have stayed quite. She wrote
quote:

“I do not presume to understand current politics, but what I do know is the concerns of the U.S. administration discussed by Vice President Vance on Friday are not reflective of Pituffik Space Base,”

Denmark also has a military presence in Greenland under the Joint Arctic Command. The US CO doesn’t have the power over the base like the CO does in Cuba. US military doesn’t have the final say on who the contractors and scientists that are on the base.

Pitiffick Space Base is not just a US Space Base. Denmark agreed to let the US be stationed there after WWII as long as the flag of Denmark was flying. The base has close to 650 people on it and around 150 members of the US Air Force and US Space Force. A lot of the members of the US Space Force are civilians.

US Space Force is a separate and distinct part of the Military. It’s not like the Army or Navy. US Space Force has 10,000 military and 4,000 civilians.

Pituffik Space Base has more civilians from Greenland, Denmark, and Canada than Americans. Pituffick is also an international scientific research and artic training facility.

She should have kept her personal opinions to herself.

Given how thin skinned the CIC is I have to agree.

It’s because they know they will still get retirement anyway.
