Really depends on how much debt you have, what assets you already own, etc. Not just on income and cost of living alone.

Too many variables unaccounted for like household size; rural vs city vs suburban living, etc.

No way the middle class starts at 39k in LA. That's like 7k above our median

The middle class is generally defined as households earning between two-thirds and double the national median household income.

I couldn’t imagine making 21k a year in 2025 unless I was a teen living with my parents.

If you live in Eastern CO you can live in that pretty easy. Places like Ft Morgan or Sterling
