Here is some information on the newly released for emergency use JJ Covid vaccine:

ETA: (hit the submit by mistake)

quote:

What type of vaccine is it?

The J&J COVID-19 vaccine is a non-replicating viral vector vaccine. This differs from the Pfizer & Moderna vaccines, which are both mRNA vaccines.

How does this vaccine work?

This vaccine works by using a viral vector, a harmless virus called adenovirus 26, which has been modified to include a gene that codes for the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. Once the viral vector enters the human cell, it produces the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein and that triggers an immune response in our bodies. J&J used this same approach to make an Ebola vaccine that has been authorized for use by the European Medicines Agency.

How many doses does it require?

The J&J COVID-19 vaccine requires one dose. This differs from the Pfizer & Moderna vaccines that both require two doses to complete the series.

What is the effectiveness of this vaccine?

The COVID-19 vaccine made by J&J, which has not received FDA approval yet, was shown to be 72% effective in the U.S. & 66% effective globally at preventing moderate to severe COVID-19 in the clinical trial. This vaccine is also 85% effective at preventing severe disease & it offered complete protection against COVID-19-related hospitalization & death 28 days after vaccination.

What are the side effects from this vaccine?

The data we have thus far shows that fatigue, headache, myalgia, & injection site pain were noted in the vaccinated groups in clinical trial. The J&J vaccine has not been associated with anaphylaxis (a life-threatening allergic reaction) in clinical trials and the occurrence of anaphylaxis is expected to be rare following vaccination

HOW DOES IT RANK NEXT TO THE OTHERS?
Both mRNA vaccines showed higher efficacy rates in their trials than J&J’s vaccine, but experts cautioned against drawing too much of a distinction between the vaccines because the trials had different endpoints and J&J’s was conducted while highly transmissible new variants of the virus were circulating.

This vaccine is more traditional in nature. I am not an anti-vaxxer, but I’m more likely to get the JJ vaccine than the mRNA vaccines. Do your research on all and decide on your own. Also, remember this vaccine is approved for emergency use only, just like the other two. There are no FDA approved Covid vaccines.

Guess I should have known better than to do some research and point out that there is an alternative to the mRNA vaccines. Forgive me, it won’t happen again.

You’re gonna have a rough time on this board if you don’t remove that stick from your arse.

They literally cannot know this. Such an absurd claim.

Relax newish poster friend, there will always be curmudgeons on this board. Like Kevin Hart, IT'S WHAT THEY DO.

But I actually appreciate the info, and didn't know the J&J vaccine was any different than the rest. I'd actually be WAY more likely to sign up for this one, after seeing how sick and miserable my wife was after the Moderna mRNA vaccine.

I still won't sign up for any if I'm not 100% required to, but I now know to request the J&J version if I'm at that point for my job.

I understand, but what I'm saying is, as phrased that is an absurd claim. I'm not saying it isn't effective, but given how differently people react to the virus, it isn't possible to say it is "85% effective at preventing severe cases." There is no control group from which you could reach that level of precision. You can't design a study that tells you that in vivo. It is literally impossible.

If I was his handlers, I would say screw that. I would put him on a plane and fly him to a new house in South Fl and tell him he was in Ghana.

Since we are giving people information Lets point out they used cells from aborted fetuses where moderna and prizer did not. Some may have moral objections one way or another.

Not at all. It uses a viral vector to infect your cells and produce the spike protein. I would say a mRNA vaccine is more of a natural process than that.
